"No! Absolutely not!" The annoyed teen said firmly.
"Dan, your father and I think this would be best for you!" His mother responded.
Dan groaned and muttered something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like 'I don't care' but was followed up with a demanding "Why?!"
"Because you need to be around people your own age Daniel." His mother responded with a glare at her son "Now get changed for dinner, you are expected there." With that she left leaving the door open to annoy him.
Dan sighed and shuffled over to shut it and threw himself back on his bed, face down. School. He was not going to that hell hole! There was a knock at the door and a voice asking him to be present soon. He groaned and shouted back an answer, muffled by his pillow. He stood up and put on a shirt, his grandma liked it when he wore a shirt. That was it! He could ask his gran, there was no way she would make him go.
He headed down to dinner eagerly sitting down as his gran joined them.
"Gran did you hear what mother was talking about?" He smiled, casually bringing it into the conversation while his mother sent him clear warning looks.
"No dear, what was that?" She asked interestedly.
"Well they were talking about sending me to mainstream school... and well I just would really prefer..."
"No Dan." She cut in. "I will not go against your parents' wishes and that is final." The older lady said, being uncharacteristically stern.
"Okay..." He sighed, giving in easily, not wanting to provoke her.

The dinner passed by too slowly for his liking and he could almost feel his mother's smugness radiating across the table. He left without being excused, too annoyed to care now and stormed to his room. He groaned for what felt like the millionth time that night and collapsed on his bed. So it was final, the prince was going to high school.
