Chapter 25: Best friend time

The next morning I woke up early again. This time though I couldn't really sleep, because all I could think about was Luke. The date was incredible even if I didn't get a bite of his ice-cream.

I went straight to the kitchen after my shower for my morning cup of tea. As I sat at the island scrolling through my phone and sipping my tea, Zayn and Niall came into the room.

"Hey boys." I said. It looked like Zayn had just rolled out of bed, and wasn't ready to take on the day. While Niall was his usual chipper self. Zayn half grinned (if you can even call it that) and grabbed a cigarette and went by the window.

Niall grabbed a bagel and took a seat by me. "What's up Syd?" "Nothing really. You guys have anything planned for today?" "I think we have to go in and figure out how we want to set things up, before we start rehearsals." he took a huge bite of his bagel, "you wanna tag alone?" He said with his mouth full making me grin. "Nah, I think I might go out though today." "Okay, that's cool. With who?" "I don't know yet." And took the last sip from my mug. "I'm gonna go try to find someone to hang with." I said getting up from my seat and ruffled the blond hairs on his head. "Okay see you later then."

I went up to my room and plopped on my bed. 'Who to call?' I thought as I scrolled through my phone. Ah ha!

The other end of the phone started to ring. "Hello?"
"Hey Drew what's up?" I heard streaking on the other end.
"Girl it's been forever!"
"I know. So you got plans today?"
"Look at that, my schedule just cleared up. What'd you have in mind?"
"I don't know exactly. I just need best friend time."
"I hear you. Want me to pick you up?"
"Yeah that be best."
"Okay how about I'll be there in an hour?"
"Sounds good."
"Okay. Bye doll, love ya."
"Love you too. See you soon." And the call ended.

I was so excited I actually get to hang out with Drew today. It does seem like I haven't talked to him in the longest time.

When Drew arrived I was still getting ready, so I told him to come on in. When I finished I went down to find Drew talking to Louis in the living room. "Okay I'm ready." I said. Drew nodded and said bye to Louis. "Hey Lou I should be back before dinner." "Okay, I'm not sure when me and the boys will be back. You have a key right?" "Yep." "Okay see you later." "Bye." I said.

Since it was already almost lunch, we decided to stop at a coffee shop for some sandwiches. "So how's things?" I asked Drew, as we sat out on the patio on the sidewalk. "Good. My jobs okay I guess. I mean I'm still working so.." I laughed at his silliness. "And how's it with the boys?" He said looking through his thick black lenses. "Good, I go with them sometimes like to photo shoots or tour stuff." "Cool. So you dating any of them yet?" I swatted his arm. "Hey it was just a question! They are all really attractive lads." "Yeah I know, but I don't know." And I looked away toward the street. "Wait there's something your not telling me." He said sternly, looking at me as if he was trying to find something. "How so?" I questioned raising an eyebrow. "Because when you leave things out you avoid eye contact." I huffed, he had caught me. "So is it one of the boys then?" "Not one of those boys..." "Then who's the boy?!" He pleaded. "Is he famous?" "I guess. He's in the band that's opening up for the boys. Plus we've only hung out a few time, nothing serious." "Mm-hmm. Well you know I have to approve of him." "Of course." I laughed.

"How's Andy doing?" I didn't know whether to bring him up or not, since the last time I saw him he stormed away from me. "He's fine, focusing on football." "Does he hate me?" I asked worried. "No. That night he was just... Ugh. I don't know if I should tell you this." "Tell me what Drew? Were all friends, I really care for you guys." "That's the thing." He said taking a drink. "Andy cares for you, a lot." "How? Since when?" I was completely shocked. I never would have guessed that one of my best friend a actually liked me that way.

Drew ran his hand through his dark hair and thought. "Since Junior year maybe." "Are you serious?!" I practically yelled across the table making nearby people stare at us. "Yeah, at the party he was totally jealous. That's why he got so mad."

I took a second to think everything over that I've just been told. I leaned back in my chair and stayed silent. So all their times we hung out, all those moments we had...

"Hey Syd don't get so worked up about it." "I know. It's just this is all so new to me." He say back and chuckled at me. "What?" I asked confused. "I have no clue how you didn't know or suspect anything. It was so obvious." "Yeah yeah whatever."

The rest of the day we spent walking around town and stopping at nearby shops.

When I got back home it was after 8. Once I shut the door I could hear the telly on in the other room, so I figured the boys were watching something. "Hey Lou I'm back." I said walking into the den. But the thing I wasn't expecting was to find the 9 pairs of eyes looking ball at me.
