It has been five years since I met Bilbo on that horrible evening, but every day since then has been brilliant. I still have strange dreams about the mystery man with the blue cloak and my tattoo, they seem to be coming more often now. Bilbo and I are closer than ever and I can't help but feel loved as he treats me like his own. "Arielle dear, could you take these out to the garden for me?" Bilbo held out some small potted plants he had been watering inside and I gladly took them.

"Of course!" I replied accepting the pots and making my way to the front door. It was a beautiful day outside and I couldn't help but stop on the front stoop to let the sun warm my body. I made my way over to the side garden and gently put down the pots, then turned to head back inside.

"Excuse me miss, but I couldn't help to notice that your an elf maiden. What are you doing in Bag End?" I turned startled by the voice, only to see Gandalf, the local wizard known for his spectacular fireworks. "Well I..." I began before I heard the squeak of the front door.

"Arielle, who are you taking to?" Bilbo questioned stepping outside. He looked between me and Gandalf before speaking again. "Good morning" Bilbo greeted the grey wizard.

"What do you mean?" Gandalf asked. "Do you wish me a good morning, or do you mean it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning or it is a morning to be good on?" Bilbo and I exchanged confused glances before I responded.

"I assume all of them at once" I say chuckling at the strange man. "Can we help you with something?" The wizard smiled in return before answering me.

"I'm looking for people to share in an adventure". Bilbo laughed to himself.

"I don't imagine anyone west of Bree wanting adventure. Sorry but we are going to be late to dinner, come Arielle."

"It would be most amusing to me" said Gandalf. "I shall inform the others". Bilbo led me to the door turning back to Gandalf.

"Others!" Bilbo screeched, "No no no no no! We, (he said gesturing to us both) do not want any adventures here!" Bilbo lightly pushed me inside, and I glanced back once more at the wizard frowning in apology before entering our house.

"Bilbo! You didn't have to be so rude to the man, and besides an adventure sounds fun." I end whispering to myself as we make our way to the kitchen. Bilbo started to angrily chop up lettuce as he responded.

"Arielle my dear, adventures are nasty things, all they bring is trouble". He walked over to the sink rinsing some lettuce for my usual dinner salad.

"Bilbo, you never let me leave the house, I've only ever been to the market and you know I've always wanted to go exploring, hunt down those filthy orcs that burned my village." Bilbo noticed the now evident frown on my face, my eyes were tearing before he spoke again.

"Arielle, you know I only want the best for you. You are practically my daughter and I care about your safety. Take a bath then come back for dinner". I nodded smiling as Bilbo reached up to wipe a stray tear from my cheek before turning back to the sink.

As I slipped into the bath I thought about the conversation I just had with Bilbo. Why was he so scared of the world? It's dangerous and dark at times but is also beautiful and full of possible memories. I must have been sitting for a while before I decided to get out so as not to keep Bilbo waiting, dinner should be ready by now. I stepped out of the tub and dried myself before changing into the night gown I had brought in with me. Walking out of the room I was greeted with the sound of men? Yes men, arguing and laughing. I heard the clanking of mugs and the bellowing of voices, fighting over a turkey leg? I followed the voices to the dining room and could tell there were many but didn't know if I should make my presence known. Had Bilbo invited these men here? He certainly wouldn't do such a thing, especially with me here. Right when I was going to turn the corner into the room a loud knock sounded in the door.

"He's here" a voice declared. Gandalf? I decided to walk to the door and heard the scraping of seats against the floor as the guests in the dining room got up to come into the hall. Rushing over to the door, I pulled it open to reveal a fairly tall dwarf with a frown on his face. His eyes traveled up to mine and he sneered before stepping in.

"Thorin, so nice of you to join us". I turned quickly. It had indeed been Gandalf that I heard, but I also noticed all the dwarves standing next to him. No wonder the voices I heard were so loud and rowdy. There were 13 to be exact, each with serious faces and beards. Except for one, he was younger than most of them, with shoulder length brown hair and scruff on his chin. He was hot! But I kept it to myself as their looks went from this Thorin man to me. Bilbo finally emerged from the dining room and noticed me still standing by the open door and scurried over. I looked down at my night gown and reached up to my hair remembering how it was still wet and dripping down my back. Everyone's eyes were on me as I stood next to Gandalf and Thorin, this was going to be terribly awkward.
