Daisy was one of the busiest students at Alabama high, she hardly had time to make friends, but she had some close friends like Jake, Stacy, and Sean. Recently, Jake had confessed that he had a crush on her, but she only saw him as a good friend, so she rejected him. After that day Daisy would always try to say hi to him, but every time she did he ignored her, or talked to someone nearby, she didn't think her rejecting him would have made such a huge negative impact, but guess she was wrong. One day when Daisy was staying after school, she stopped by the music room, and saw Sean cleaning all alone, so she went in and helped him, after about 10 minutes Jake came in, he looked around and spotted Daisy, he was already depressed enough as it is, and it's not like he wanted to hang around the girl who rejected him, so he bolted out of the room. "What's his deal?" Sean turned and asked Daisy.

"Well, I might have rejected him." Daisy said, as she nervously laughed.

"Oh, right I forgot about that, well I guess it makes sense now." Sean said. The two of them continued cleaning. About a week later Jake seemed fine ,he was having a good time with Hailey now, but Daisy was a little upset, she had no idea why, but everytime she passed Jake, and Hailey, she felt her heart burn a little bit. Daisy liked Sean though ,so why would it hurt seeing Jake have fun with Hailey? She rejected him, so why did it hurt so much? She had so many questions, maybe she did like Jake, but she didn't want to admit it. Admitting it now seemed a little silly seeing as though she rejected him. Daisy was certainly in a dilemma. She hadn't realized it, but everytime she came to the music room now Jake, and Hailey were obviously flirting, and the pain in Daisy's heart grew, and grew with each day, so to avoid the terrible pain, she stopped coming to their rehearsals. Daisy remembered reading something about this subject, it was called the hanahaki, the one sided love disease, where the person has a flower growing inside of them, they cough up petals, and if the affection isn't returned it's likely the carrier will die, unless they get surgery. She hoped she didn't have it, but if she died the pain would go away, and if she lived she'd feel that pain everyday, maybe it was for the best if she did have the hanahaki, she was already a flower anyway, a few petals wouldn't hurt.

"Hey Daisy, how are you today?" Hailey asked from behind her.

"Fine, just peachy, listen I'd love to talk but I've got head girl duties to attend to." Daisy said running down the hall "and I kind of don't want to talk to you." Daisy muttered. Halfway to the student council room, she ran into the other person she didn't want to see.

"Oh hi Daisy what's up?" Jake asked, she noticed he wasn't stuttering or turning bright red anymore it was unusual, but probably because he'd gotten over her.

"Nothing, just heading to the student council room." Daisy said, leaving the conversation. She made it to the student council room, stepped in, looked around, and saw Stacy, when all of a sudden she felt something in her throat, she started coughing, and coughing until a few red flower petals spilled out.

"What the hell is happening?" Stacy inquired.

"H-hanahaki disease." Daisy answered. Stacy's eyes opened wide, and she let out a gasp.

"W-what? How? Who's the affection for?" Stacy asked.

" J-Jake." She muttered under her breath, Stacy couldn't hear.

"Who? Is it Sean?" Stacy asked again.

"IT'S JAKE OKAY!!" Daisy yelled. She was usually soft spoken, so it was surprising to hear her yell.

"J-jake? But you rejected him, you only see him as a friend, right?" Stacy questioned.

"Yes, maybe, no. I have no clue!! It just started today, if the affection isn't returned in time, I'll die." Daisy responded. The room's door opened, it was Elliot.

"What's with all the yelling?" Elliot asked in his quiet tone.

"You know all about flowers do something!!" Stacy said as she grabbed Elliot, and shoved him in front of Daisy.

"W-wha?" Elliot said, he was confused until he saw red flowers on the ground.

"She's spitting out flowers ,do something!!" Stacy yelled through small sobs.

"I can't do anything about the hanahaki disease, only the person that the affection is meant for can." Elliot explained. Daisy had now coughed up 2 more petals, Stacy was hysterically sobbing, muttering something about not wanting to lose her only friend.

"What's going on in here, why do I hear crying?" Jake asked as he swung the door open, Hailey followed behind him. " Elliot your goddamn flower petals are tracking all over the floor." Jake said, sounding a little ticked off. Hailey looked at the ground, then tugged at Jake's arm, he looked down very closely at the flower petals, and his eyes grew wide."H-hanahaki petals? But how? Stacy are these from you?" Jake asked in separate sentences.

"No you idiot, they're from Daisy!!" Hailey said, hitting Jake on the head. Daisy let out a sniffle, the pain grew even worse seeing Jake, and Hailey so close now.

"I-I'm fine really, just some little flowers, it's not a big deal." Daisy lied, she knew how much was at stake here, she could lose her life if Jake didn't return her affection, which it's likely he won't considering he was rejected, and getting pretty close with Hailey.

"Wait! Who's causing you this?" Jake asked Daisy. Stacy opened her mouth to explain, but Daisy's face told her to not speak a word of the truth.

"We don't know yet, they started today, hopefully we can figure it out though." Daisy lied.

"It can't be Sean, I mean you seemed pretty close to him when I stopped by the music room a couple weeks ago." Jake added. The room went silent for a few minutes. Hailey stepped forward.

"Daisy, I know how hard this must be for you, never knowing when you're going to die, questioning whether you should spend the money to get it removed, begging that whoever the affection is towards will just come running to you saying I love you , but just know we're here for you." Hailey said, as her hand gestured towards everyone in the room standing around her. They all nodded.

"You guys should go, we still have student council things to deal with." Stacy said as she shooed them all out of the room. She walked over to where Daisy was, and plopped herself down next to her. " She's right you know, I'll always be here for you." Stacy said.

"I know, but I really don't want her to be here for me, I mean she's the one that's making the pain worse." Daisy said glumly.

"Well, no time to dwell on that miss student council president ,we've got work to do." Stacy said getting up and heading to the table.
