God I hate school so much but I'm in my last year of high school and I got to make it count, so far my grades aren't that bad, I'm averaging a B plus to an A which is really good for me for once because I'm usually a C minus D kind of student. I'm very surprised since I don't study and barely do my homework.
This year has got to be different; I have to keep my grades up where they are and stay on my best behaviour. You could say I used to be a rebel, not listening or doing my work, but I've changed my ways since my mother died a year ago.
"Jayde, oi, snap out of it" Cali growled at me."What!" I growled back.
"I know that face, stop talking to yourself in your head it's-" I cut her off before she could finish speaking.
"What face! And I wasn't talking to myself, that's weird and would make me seem crazy" I snapped.
"You know the face; it's the same damn facial expression that you use when we're doing an exam so that it looks like you're doing it when you're not."
"I-I was not, now shut up and finish your sandwich, lunch is almost over" I said as I'm eating my chicken nuggets.
The cafeteria was fuller today than it usually is, probably because the school finally stocked food that doesn't taste like shit, it actually tastes like real food.
As time was passing I'm sitting here thinking about my mum's death, it's almost the anniversary. I wonder if dad remembers the date or if he is even going to visit the grave, I think I might buy some flowers to put on her tombstone.
The bell just rung and interrupted my thoughts as usual.
"Ok you done?" Cali asked as she stood up from the table.
"Yeah, what class you got now?" I asked her as I noticed someone just entering the cafeteria. "Who are you looking at?" Cali turned around as they quickly turned around and left.
"I've never seen her before, she must be new, because I know everyone" Cali practically whispered as she threw her rubbish in the bin and started walking out.
"Hey wait. Wait for me, you didn't answer my question." I shouted while quickly trying to catch up to Cali.
"What was it?" she said as if she never heard me, but I knew she did. "I know you heard me" I snapped as we stopped at her locker. "Oh, right. Well I've got history" Cali said as she was fiddling around with the lock on her locker. "Well I've got art; did you forget your combination again?" I asked with a slight pause as she dropped all her stuff in frustration.
"Yes! God why is it so hard to remember a three digit combination!" she murmured as I put the digits in the lock.
I can remember so many people's locker combinations but Cali can't even remember just her own. She barely even remembers what day of the week it is.
"How can you do that?" she whispered all confused.
"Do what" I smiled.
"Oh please don't play dumb with me" she growled at me.
"I don't know, I just easily remember things" I said staring at my feet while Cali got her books out of her locker.
This was true, for some reason I could easily remember a lot of things, except for when it came to learning at school then everything just went over the top of my head. And I always wondered why, do I have like selected learning like some people have selected hearing. I must then.
Cali clicked in my face "Earth to Jayde, stop bloody doing that and get to class, the second bell just went. You know how cranky your teacher gets when people show up after the second bell."
