Just as we took to the dance floor, a slow song started. My Dream Girl led, taking my hand and pulling me close, one hand entwined with mine and one wrapped around my waist. I seemed to be very aware of exactly the points where she touched me, my heart racing, and my face growing red.
God, this was embarrassing. Keep yourself together, Val. One dance.
I wasn't the best dancer, but that didn't seem to matter. My partner gently moved me along to the beat of the song, her eyes never straying from mine, seeming to be fixated on them for some reason.
I looked back, determined to take her all in before the dance ended and we parted. She was gorgeous.
Her eyes were a dark brown and seemed to sparkle in the light. Her raven black hair glistened, perfectly combed with cute bangs in the front. And her dress. Jet black and- well- feathery, like some sort of bird, it complimented her midnight skin perfectly, bringing out the cool undertones and making her skin look flawless.
But it was more than that.
She had an air of confidence and a sparkle in her eyes that seemed to suggest she was laughing at some untold joke, but with a warm smile that seemed to allude that she'd be there for you no matter what. It was almost like we were looking into each other's souls with this one dance. [I know this line's kinda cheesy, but I'm keeping it :P]
When it finally ended, I was both disappointed and relieved. Disappointed that this was the end of seeing her. Relieved that I would leave my nervousness behind and return to the comfort of Celestina's friend group.
Trying to avoid any awkwardness, I stepped away, ready to go away, but the Girl called after me.
"Wait!" She exclaimed, tapping my shoulder to get my attention. I turned toward her. "Your cookie." She handed it to me, smiling slightly. I returned the smile, about to turn back to leave when she took my hand. "Wait- Please stay a little longer." She whispered the last part, eyes pleading.
"Why?" I stared at her, blushing a little, wondering if my palm was sweaty.
"I- want to get to know you- You seem... pretty great." She grinned, then frowned again, dropping my hand. "But- I get it if you don't want to. I- I'm just going to be honest- and say that... You're really hot." I blushed furiously and she smiled awkwardly, staring at the ground. "And- I think- if I got to know you, I could love you- not just because of your looks." She added quickly, fiddling with her hands and looking up at me, before looking back down. "I think you're- really funny and- interesting- and- I'd love to get to know you more!" She looked up at me shyly then and I blushed before she looked back down once again. "But- I get it if you don't feel the same, or aren't interested in a relationship or are-" She gulped. "Straight. I just wanted you to know. Why waste an opportunity at love? But, uh- If you want me to leave, I will-"
"-No!" I almost shouted, just catching myself, but she still looked up in surprise. I blushed profusely again, clearing my throat before whispering, "Please stay."
She smiled at me slightly, whispering back, "So... you... like me too?" Her eyes sparkled as she said this.
I blushed again, but nodded, not trusting my ability to speak and she giggled.
How's the bk so far? Is my pacing ok? I think this chapter is sweet, but I've never been a very good writer... So let me know what you think... Anyways, that's all for now, folks. Bye :3!
