"Let's get married." Adena sighs as she falls onto their hotel room bed, full from a heavy dinner and feeling the happiest she think she has ever been.

Kat hears the light tone in her girlfriends voice, and knows she's only joking, but she can't help the intense look that escapes her curious eyes and lands on the beautiful woman laid before her.
"Let's get married." She echoes, in a much more serious tone.

Adena's eyes widen, her silence stabs Kat in the heart.

Kat blinks at her, offended, confused, and she doesn't know she's that upset until she feels a tear run down her right cheek.

"Baby," Adena begins, she watches Kat stand up and walk onto the balcony, "I love you"

That was the only time Kat had ever anticipated a 'but' after hearing those three golden words from Adena. She suddenly felt trapped, out of place.
"I'm taking a walk," she murmurs as she makes her way to the door awkwardly.

"What?" Adena questions in disbelief to both Kat and herself. How could her emotions do a total 180 in just a few minutes?

As Kat strolls the same streets her and Adena had walked hand in hand in just an hour ago, she feels as if it's a completely different place. The cracks in the bricks are no longer charming, they now mirror the breaks in her heart, and the man sat alone reading near the ocean no longer holds mystery and peace, but loneliness and a deep sadness that Kat never imagined to feel again - not since meeting Adena.

"I'm overreacting." Kat says to herself. She laughs, rolls her eyes at how she managed to ruin such a beautiful evening. Has she ruined it all? God, she hopes not, marriage can wait, a wedding ring won't define her commitment to Adena any more than the toothbrush she keeps at her apartment.
"I'm crazy."

"You're not crazy." Adena's voice calls out to her softly.

Kat turns around to see her girlfriend stood behind her, rosy cheeks wet from tears. She giggles as she notices Adena had followed her out with only her odd socks on her feet.

"It's cold, let's get back." Adena almost whispers as she reaches out for Kat's hand.

Kat hesitates, "you do wanna marry me at one point, right?" She asks hopefully and a little confused.

Adena breathes out a loving laugh, her and Kat have had endless conversations about marriage and weddings - it's something they both want.
"Of course I do." She hums in response.

They get back to their hotel room, and it's totally awkward. Kat just made that way too serious than it needed to be, and Adena astonished herself at how cold her response was.

After a few minutes of hushed uncomfortable conversation the older girl ponders in thought for a moment.

"You know," Adena approaches Kat and sits next to her on the small couch, "I don't want a big wedding"

"Yeah, you've said." Kat speaks, wanting to drop the subject, she doesn't notice the suggestive tone in her lovers voice.

"And with travel, my father illness, my family wouldn't be able to make it anyway..."

Kat is still oblivious, until she feels Adena cup her face gently and notices the look in her eyes.
"You mean we should, like, elope?"

Adena smiles, bites her lip mischievously, and nods in confirmation. Kat is staring at her in disbelief.

"Okay," Kat shuffles slightly to completely face Adena, "tonight has contained many.. twists"

They both giggle, peck each others lips before continuing the conversation.

"Do you want to?" Adena asks, noticing that Kat hasn't really voiced her opinion on the idea.

"Here?"

Adena thinks for a second, "If you want to."

Kat laughs to herself, gaining a confused glance from her.. fiancé?
"Sutton and Jane asked me if I was gonna propose on our vacation."

"I guess they were right, in some way." Adena's tone is flirty, her words innocent yet her face full of lust and want. She sits herself on Kat's lap, fiddles with the sleeves on her girl's t-shirt before pulling her own shirt over head and throwing it to the floor.

"We're crazy." Kat giggles before crashing her lips onto her lovers and leading them to the bedroom.

After calling their parents, and FaceTiming Jane and Sutton, it is official - they're eloping in the Bahamas. Of course, everyone was a little disappointed that they didn't have an invite, but their happiness overrode any other emotion.

"Isn't the secrecy kind of the point of eloping?" Kat questions Adena as the call with her friends ends.

"Since when do you keep secrets from your friends?" Adena teases, letting her head rest on Kat's bare chest.

"A little awkward calling our parents whilst naked in bed, right?" Kat laughs, letting her hands roam the curves of Adena's hips and breasts underneath the covers.

"Don't tease." Adena whispers, frustrated, keeping her head laying above Kat's breasts as she feels hands roam every part of her body, avoiding the places she wants them most.
