It was a day like any other, the sunlight filled the room through the grey shades. I watched her sleep every morning before waking her so I could witness her first moments of her day. Her first smile and laugh, I wanted to make her morning better than any other. It was her birthday and even though nothing in our lives made sense one thing that did was our love and the way we cared for one another.I bought her twelve dozen roses and spread the petals everywhere throughout the house and bought her favorite candles. The house smelled of sweet vanilla.. I made her breakfast and got her shower ready knowing she would be in a rush. As I walked back into the room I saw her pull the covers back over to cover her face. I slowly walked back in and crawled back into the bed wrapping my arms around her.
She turned around and smiled, the sweetest smile I'd have ever seen.. I was captivated. Still till this day after all these years it still felt like the first day. The way she gave me butterflies every time smiled at me, every moment spent with her she took my breath away and today it was more than any other day. She held my heart in her hands and she knew, but she never took advantage of that... I smile and say happy birthday.
She smiled back and looked at me like she did on that summer day.. The day she told me she loved me. I remember I could never forget cause after she told me the words slipped right out of my mouth as I said I love you back. I leaned forward and slowly kissed her softly only to leave the memory of her lips upon mine. I rushed her to shower and told her the breakfast would get cold so she ran right in. I hid a couple of cameras around the house, today was her day and I was gonna make it by far the best one yet.
As she exited the room the halls smelled of pancakes, eggs and freshly brewed coffee, nothing like a good start to her morning. As her feet met the top of the staircase she had the biggest smile on her face. The stairs were covered in rose petals she could feel the softness under her feet and the room felt so warm. She ran down the stairs quietly trying not to let me hear her coming down. She walked into the kitchen and there before her was a table with breakfast made, a big bouquet of flowers and a lovely cup of coffee.
I watched her as she walked in and sat down. She started to eat and already her emails from work started to come in, and she knew it was time to go. She made sure she finished eating and I have her a big hug and kiss before she left.
