"No!"
That was the last thing he heard before he awoke. The smokey air he breathed into his lungs had forced him awake.
He sat up, coughing from the dust settling around him. He sat for a moment, trying to figure out what led to him being knocked to the ground in a pile of rubble.
The boy let out a small gasp, the memories of before the blast fitting into place like pieces of a puzzle. His brother had done it. He fulfilled the promise he made to the corrupt god, the promise that came with a war.
He stood up, wincing slightly as he clutched his side. He pulled his hand away, eyes widening at the blood covering his hand. He held his side, trying to stop the bleeding as he looked towards the hill behind where the election podium once stood.
His eyes had to be deceiving him. The smoke possibly getting to his head. He saw his brother, standing beside another figure. Their father, who'd been gone for far too long, was standing in front of his eldest son.
The onlooker got over his shock, trying to make it through the rubble to the area the two stood in. As he grew near, he heard yelling.
Desperate, sorrowful yelling. Yelling that worried him more than anything in the world could.
He let out a small hiss of pain as he climbed the cliff up to the room.
He was too late.
As the teen pulled himself into the room and stood up, the sight unfolded in front of him like a storybook. His father was holding a sword.
A sword that was driven through his brother's chest. Yet.. his brother was smiling. He was smiling, not with insanity, or happiness. But relief. Both blondes saw his expression as he fell to his knees, tears falling from the brunette's eyes.
"T-thank.. you.."
The teen rushed to his brother's side, panicking and stumbling over his words. Their father was sat beside them as well, pulling both into a hug.
From afar, the middle brother watched. He watched as his older brother died in the arms of their father and little brother. Yet no tears flowed. No emotion was displayed on his scarred face.
A orange fox stood beside the middle brother. He was covering his mouth in a gasp, his wide eyes leaking tears.
His father was dead, and he didn't even get to say goodbye. The others who witnessed the event were silent with shock, emotions were all over the place.
Some had lost a friend, some had lost a brother, one had lost a father, and most of all..
they lost a good president..
