My dear star, where'd you go?

The night was beautiful; the city shined and buzzed with life, showing his bustling side even when night fell.

The day had been filled with love and affection. He was looking down from his balcony, reminiscing about the date: their anniversary.

A melancholic smile graced his lips, remembering that little quirk on his lover's lips. That tiny twinkle of life, painting his eyes with a brighter amber-like colour, made his heart soar. It had been so long since he had seen his smile.

He looked at the bed, spotting the familiar body covered by weighted blankets. His dear husband, what had he done to deserve him? He had come close to losing him, but fate had been on their side. Even though he was but a shell of his former self, he tried hard to be present for his family, but some days were harder.

Moving from his seat, he sat gracefully on the bed and carded his hand through that ashened tinted hair. He gazed lovingly at his beautiful man. Sighing gently, he sat up and changed his clothes. A kiss was laid on his forehead, and with that, he went to sleep.

----------

A year and a half before marked the beginning of his downfall.
Lucifer had been at work when it happened. He had finished for the day, and he was going out when some of his colleagues stopped him. "Boss, care to go for a drink?", said Tim, chief in command of his security. He was accompanied by three other people: Sam, Tim's brother and his second-in-command in the European branch of the Venus corp.; Jeremiah, his driver and best friend; and Jamila, his other second-in-command.

The night went smoothly, filled with laughter and joy. "How's Percival doing, Luc? It's been a while since he came by" asked Jeremiah. It was common for them to see their boss' husband in the office, but since the last incident, no one had seen him again. "He's doing okay. He's tackling physical therapy rather well, and he recovered nicely. He says hi, by the way. He would have come tonight but he was feeling a little under the weather" said Lucifer.

A few months prior Percy had been held hostage for a ransom, and things went so fast. Fortunately,y he had been rescued not long after, but the period he spent captive had left some scars. Nothing too serious, but it had been quite the scare.

The evening was pleasant, but Lucifer was feeling slightly,y worried, his husband wasn't answering his messages. Deciding to call home, a sleepy light voice answered him. " Hello dear boy, where's your daddy?"He asked, " He was talking with a girl, but she was being loud, so he told us to wait inside," said Ezra, one of his twins. A girl, he thought, who could it be at this time of the day?

He was going to ask further when Jamila shook his shoulder and pointed at the screen. There was a photo of a wanted girl who had escaped. Unfortunately, he knew her very well. She was a previous employee, but she had to be fired because of her stalkerish behaviour and bad conduct. If she had escaped, it was logical that she would seek revenge for her firing. The problem was that she was dangerously cunning and vile. He shivered but told Ezra to go hide and wait for him.

He didn't need to say anything, his friend was ready to go. Tim had called for backup, and he was ready to go.

They took a shortcut to the nice contemporary family house just outside the city of Ottawa. It took them nothing short of 15 minutes to reach the house. Outside, patrols were already there. He tried to go inside, but Tim stopped him from going. " They're still securing the house. I got radioed a moment ago and they have already taken her away. Just let the medics do their jobs and you can go" said the chief. What had happened? Was he hurt?

A moment later, the medics and the patrols went away. He took the opportunity and went inside. "Boss, take the week off" shouted Sam before the front door closed.

Laid on the couch was his man, a cold rag covering his forehead, and cocooned in a lot of blankets. "Hey love, how are you doing?" asked softly the brunette, frowning when he received only a mumble as a response. "Papa doesn't worry, the nice lady gave daddy some pills that would have made him sleepy" chirped Parker. He sighed relieved, and sat down, cradling his man's head in his lap. " Are you two okay?" and after they both nodded, he sent them to sleep. It had been an eventful day, he could see their eyes starting to close. He waited until he heard the door close, before he did the same and went to bed. He would check with Percy the next day, for now, he enjoyed the warm feeling of sleep, relieved that nothing serious had happened.
