Y/N and Van's daughter writing Christmas cards. Short and sweet.

"Write daddy's card now, quick before he comes home," You told your daughter. You were helping her write Christmas cards for friends and family, sat at the kitchen table in her fluffy red Christmas pyjamas and her reindeer slippers. "What animal are you gonna give him?"

Molly stuck her little tongue out in concentration as she flicked through the box of cards that had various festive animals and images on them. "This one!" She announced, pulling out a card with a puppy on the front, dressed up in a little Santa hat. Molly yanked the cap off one of her favourite glittery gel pens and began writing.

"To...how do I spell it?" She whispered, slightly embarrassed. Her feelings were given away by the faint blush that had appeared on her cheeks but she giggled.

"Just how it sounds, darling. I'm sure he won't mind." You reassured her, resulting in a card that read:

"To dady, merry crismas. LOTS AND LOTS OF HUGS AND KISSES FROM MOLLY XXX"

You both gasped as you heard keys in the front door, quickly writing the envelope then hiding it under the pile of other cards. Van called out a greeting as he hung up his coat, poking his head around the door.

"Ello you two." He grinned, hair windswept and face red from the cold. "What you up to?"

"We're writing christmas cards." You explained proudly, watching the girl as she moved her pen over the paper. Your little girl that you and Van brought into the world almost 7 years ago.

"Mummy can we write a card for Lucas?" She asked, reaching for another one from the box. This one had a family of penguins on the front, skiing down a snowy mountain.

"Sure we can."

"Who's Lucas? Do I need to be worried?" Van joked, despite his serious tone, as he grabbed a banana from the fruit bowl and took a seat beside Molly so she was sandwiched between the two of you.

"He's my boyfriend." She said quite nonchalantly, prompting a gasp from Van.

"I thought you said Bob was your boyfriend?" He asked, trying his best to hold back a laugh. It was amusing what kids could come up with sometimes. Molly McCann was no exception. You both thought she'd become too smart for her own good since she started school, always making smart remarks and being incredibly observant, often noticing little details that you or Van hadn't picked up on.

"He is my boyfriend, but Lucas is my boy friend." You liked how she put extra emphasis on the pause between the two words, rolling her eyes and huffing a little. That was something she did a lot when she was annoyed by something and it was her way of saying "get me out of here right now"

"Alright, as long as you two aren't kissing on the sly. I'd hate to break poor bob's heart." Van put his hand to his chest, dramatically feigning a broken heart before standing up and placing a kiss on the top of your head.

"Right, I'll let you two get on with that while I stick the kettle on." He announced. You and Molly exchanged a look of relief that he hadn't spotted his card on the pile.

"10 down, 10 more to go."
