Once mankind had pulled away from the world of gods and magic, it left a void that nobody could explain. There was simply something missing after exiling themselves from the lands of magic.

What they needed was to fill the void, and for that they decided to turn to science. In the wake of this decision, many monstrous creatures were created, many of which were unstable, uncontrollable or simply killed themselves. Those who managed to live knew nothing but a life of suffering.

For many decades they tried, aiming for their goal of perfection, until they reached what they believed to be it. A trio of brothers, Silvada, Ratsu, and Muka, Once an average group of brothers. Now they were nothing more than monsters, stripped of their Yakoi birth name and renamed accordingly...

Silvada Wolfbane.

Ratsu Drakebane.

And, Muka Beastbane.

The three brothers spent many years being the pride and joy of the facility. Funding and media attention were never in short supply. What the public would never know was the pain and suffering the brothers endured to remain, perfect.

However, time in the limelight could only last so long. Eventually another child came along, one who was their true ideal of perfection.

Over time the three brothers grew to hate this new child, the one who had taken all of the attention from them. They now knew that they were no longer needed, that they weren't the picture of perfection that they had spent their entire lives being told.

The scientists had decided to call the boy with no name, Nero. He quickly became a treasure to them. No matter the tasks they gave him, his results surpassed even the best records the brothers set.

They had created what had become known as a living Gargoyle. A being, capable of becoming a lethal monster, even as a small child. With this success they knew that the formula used to create Nero, could be used to create many more like him.

As they furthered their testing on Nero, they discovered a unique genetic trait they hadn't predicted. He had the ability to become a small winged fox. Another thing to add to his perfection, a form built for escape.

However, when he was just a boy, neither beast nor animal, he still held a unique appearance. He had pale skin and vibrant green eyes. His ears, tall atop his head and bat-like, as his limbs were covered in velvety fur and a large pair of wings gracing his back. Even in this form, he was a sight to behold.

Finally they decided Nero should be allowed to meet with some of the other projects, to work on building bonds and relationships. As such, he was released for a few hours into the recreational yard, and it was there he would meet the brothers.

It was a day that would leave its mark. A lasting impression that would haunt them all, and leave nothing but a lingering bitter feeling.

"So a scrawny little thing like you is their new picture of perfection? You're nothing but another monster!" Harsh words greeted Nero when the brothers finally found him in the yard.

"I honestly don't get what makes you so damn special! What is it that makes you oh, so much better?" The source of the offending voice was the middle brother, but as the trio stepped closer to him, he stepped back.

"Ha! Look at you, their precious piece of perfection cowering in the presence of the obsolete creatures. Even if you are a monster like us, you're a pathetic excuse for one!" Ratsu, the second brother let out a bellowing laugh, a sound that seemed to echo in the otherwise quiet yard. Everyone had since gone silent, all eyes on the confrontation.
