It was a bright sunny afternoon, and I was like hopping on my way home from school. It was the last day, after all, I was really looking forward this summer vacation.
At long last, from this day on, my life will change, I just turned eighteen and I got permission from my parents to live on my own. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents and I enjoyed being with them but there is just this part me that wanted to prove to myself that I can make it on my own. I am just happy that my parents understood me and have been very supportive of my decisions.
Before I continue my story, let me tell you about myself first. It is nothing special really, I am just an average girl with average looks and average intelligence. My parents had me rather late in their married life so they would often refer to me as their miracle baby.
My mom had just retired from being a teacher and my dad was supposed to retire from being a police detective when they had me so my appearance in their life extended my dad's police job for six more years. It shouldn't have been a miracle, right? Since my parents would have been enjoying their retirement but they got me instead.
But my dad begged to differ because he said, when I arrived, good things happened to him and that included his promotion as Police Chief. I don't really buy his alibi since he only got to be in that position for just a year but I just zipped my mouth shut, I am a filial daughter after all.
This is me, Claire
