Madi

Josh wasn't at school today but I heard about what happened...Mr. Star football player got busted on his way to school speeding and under the influence with drugs on him.

Later that night....I see Josh sitting on his roof. This has kind of always been our thing he sits on his roof and I sit on mine and we talk.

I climb out of my window and look over to him. "What's up Madi?" he says to me like nothing happened to him earlier today.

"Not too much Josh...how about you?" I ask also acting like nothing happened to him earlier today.

"Same." He simply replies.

But then my brain quickly goes to....Not too much?! ....you just got arrested how is that not too much. I decide to not ask him about what happened though.

"Are you okay?" I ask instead.

"Yea...I'm great." He replies sarcastically.

"Can you just be real for a second?" I ask of him.

"What do you want me to say Madi?" He says slightly raising his voice and then he takes a swig of whatever bottle of alcohol is in his hand.

"I feel like you have everything why are you throwing it away?" I ask.

"That's the thing Madi...you see what everyone else sees." He says to me.

"What does that mean?" I question...as he gets up and climbs into his window never answering the question. And me left immediately regretting even asking him anything.

What could be so terrible?

Not only does he have every college scouting him...he is top of our class. Or was...I guess I don't even know anymore.

But you know what his problem is not my problem. I have so much that I have to worry about for myself.

Dance is and should be my only focus. I am a dancer...I always have been. And it is my dream to attend Julliard. That's actually all I have ever wanted. So I haven't really had much of a social life...which is why I am not in with the popular crowd. Because if I am not at school I am in the studio practicing.

I feel like I have missed out on a lot though...

I don't want to look back on high school and regret not doing more...or just being a teenager.

The next morning I wake up and go downstairs. The first thing out of my mothers mouth is "why didn't you tell me about Josh?" she asks me.

You see our parents have always been extremely close. We spend every 4th of July together, and they have always invited the Ross's over for family events and vice versa.

"I don't know...I didn't really know what to say." I reply.

"I'm just so surprised Josh has always been such a great kid." She responds.

"He still is I just think he made a mistake." I tell her.

"I spoke to Tom this morning I guess they have been having a lot of issues with him lately and they are talking about potential military or boarding school." My mom replies.

Tom is Josh's dad. What I do know is his dad has always been really hard on Josh.

He can't go to military school!! Or boarding school!! Or leave!! I think to myself..

When I am leaving for school I see Ryan outside. Ryan is Josh's older brother he is a senior. And he is also Mr. Star athlete. One thing for sure is Ryan and Josh have always been super competitive with one another.
