Chapter one :Living with the dogs

I'm finally here. Its finally the day. Standing outside the huge house i looked at the door hesitantly. Behind those doors is the man i thought was dead. A man I never heard much of. The man that i called my farther. If your wondering if I hate him, the answer is no. You cant hate someone you never knew, right. Apart of me was screaming to take the plane back and help mom out but another part was telling me to stay. Mom would never allow me to return. 'Its too dangerous' is all she says. Let me explain to you how I ended up at this situations.

--- One week ago ---

"Charlie wake up" Mom spoke loudly turning the room light on causing me to pull the blanket over my face to dim out the light. " We need to pack and go" she spoke making me wide awake and sitting straight on my bed.

"Go? Go where?" I asked but wasn't answered as mom started to throw my clothes into my black travel bag. I could see her hands shaking as she hurriedly rampaged my cupboard. Getting out of my warm bed into the cold atmosphere i grabbed onto my moms hand " What happened mom?" i asked with concern and worry in my voice. She looked at me with her sad dull eyes that once was full of life and happiness. "I thought I could protect you. i thought I could give you a normal life" she spoke quietly to herself.

"Protect me from what?" i asked sitting down next to her. Mom remained silent in her own deep thoughts before snapping out and letting go of my hand to run it through her blonde messy hair."I'll explain everything to you but not now" she promised " Now I need you to be safe. I've booked you a plain ticket so pack your passport and anything else necessary"

"Where are we going" I asked making mom look at me and give a sad smile pulling me into a hug "not we, you"

Moving off her i looked at her in shock "What!?" i yelled "You cant be serious. I'm not leaving you mom"

Moving a strand of blonde hair behind my ear "Your not leaving me forever" she reassured " just for the meantime- You'll be safe and look after-ed"

" how do you know" i exclaimed "They might abuse me or even worse"

Mom lightly laughed " I should have told you this sooner but 'they' is your farther"

I stared at her at the mention of his name "Dad?" I questioned. She nodded " He works at a foster care and their all kids your age. You'll be able to make friends your age and have the life normal teens are meant to"

"But i have friends" I defended

"Drug dealers and Illegal traders are not your friend" she said seriously making me sigh. She never liked them. But they were good guys. Pulling me into a hug "You'll be fine Charlie. Remember i always love you" she whispered into my ear

--- present day ---

it irritates me that I haven't found out who moms running away from and why. But I promise i'll find out. Pulling ym suitcase handle and putting one bag on my shoulder while my school bag was over my other shoulder i began pulling to closer to the house.

"You can do this" i said to myself taking deep breaths. As i reached near the door i noticed one of the windows broken slightly and the grass messy like something rolled around it. Sure feels welcoming- note the sarcasm. A few centimetres away I could hear barking noises and an object running towards me. My eyes widened as i dropped mt bags onto the ground. Out of ail the things in the world my worst fear is dogs. I froze in terror not able to think what to do. The only thing I could do and did was scream at the top of my lungs as the fat dog leaped at me knocking me onto the ground. "AHHHHHHHHH"
