"they want me to look pretty, i'll show them pretty" aera mumbled while rummaging through her closet, her frustration evident in the way she tossed aside a few discarded outfits. she had been talking with herself for about fifteen minutes now, and if anybody heard her, they'd probably think she escaped the psych ward.

"there. that's pretty. typical, classical, just like always," she complained, pulling out a pink satin mini dress. the fabric shimmered softly in the dim light of her room, but she scowled at it as if it had personally offended her.

in case you haven't understood that already, she really didn't want to go.

her day had already been ruined, but this was just the cherry on top. she turned the dress around in her hands, the zipper catching her eye and making her grit her teeth. somehow, she managed to close it, feeling the snug fit accentuate her curves.

aera left her room with a sigh, her heart racing as she finally made peace with the fact that there was no way out of this situation. she leaned against the bathroom doorframe, arms crossed, watching jake struggle with a hint of amusement. his hair was still wet, droplets glistening as they trickled down his neck, and his shirt was halfway buttoned, revealing a glimpse of his chest. he was teetering on the edge of a breakdown as he rapidly searched through the drawers, rummaging for a clean pair of socks.

"dude, you're supposed to dry your hair first, then get dressed" aera commented, her tone lowkey judgmental, but she couldn't hide her amused smile at the sight of his struggle.

"my hair is gonna be a mess! i never blow-dry it, but i don't have time to let it air dry," jake cried out, plugging in the blow dryer. the sound roared to life, drowning out their conversation.

"don't you worry, child. just dry it. i got your back" aera consoled him, pulling out the hair straightener, the sleek device gleaming in the harsh bathroom light.

"you and your damn hair! you're the reason why i'm always late!" aera complained, trying her best not to mess up her eyeliner while balancing on one foot, the other slipping awkwardly in her heel.
