1st person POV

"Miss Kaspbrak? Sleeping in my class, really?"

I woke up to my teacher hovering over me while my brother Eddie whispered at me to wake up from his seat behind me. Everyone was watching. I quickly sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes.

"S-sorry teach." I mumbled. Mrs. Smith only sighed and walked back to the front of the room.

"I'll let you off on a hook only because it's the last day. Now, I know we're all excited for summer break, but..." the  teacher droned on about summer reading as Richie and me engaged in a conversation.

"Sleeping in my class, Miss Kaspbrak?" Richie mocked Mrs. Smith with a high-pitched voice as I tried to bite back a laugh.

Me and Richie have been friends since me and Eddie had gotten placed in a group project with him. Eddie was reluctant of this boy with Coke-bottle glasses and hawiian shirts who made too many "your mom" jokes, but they became friends somewhere down the line.

Me and Rich, however, hit it off from the second we met. If Richie's in trouble, you can bet I was helping him. I'll never forget the time we threw a whole garbage can at Greta Keene. I mean, we've done other things too. But that was the most impressive.

Me and Eddie, we're stuck like glue, as some twins are. Most siblings can't stand each other, but we were best friends until Richie came around.  We still are really close, don't get me wrong, but having Richie in our group has definitely given us some much needed range.

I was pulled out of my daydream by the bell ringing and Mrs. Smith doing the old "the bell doesn't dismiss you, I do", but it was a lost cause as all of the students drifted out of the classroom. Me, Eddie, and Richie group up with our other friend Bill as we left the class, the topic going from Street Fighter tactics to our friend Stan's bar mitzvah.

Bill was the leader of our group by default. Taller than all of us, and probably stronger, he was the nicest one, always there for you no matter what. But the roles had been reversed earlier in the year when Bill's little brother Georgie had gone missing. We all knew that Georgie was dead, but Bill refused to think that, and continued to say that his brother was simply missing.

As we walked into the hallway, Richie and Eddie started arguing over exactly what happens at a bar mitzvah.

"So Stan gets up in front of this room full of jews, and he has to take this super jew-y test, and-" Richie cut Eddie off.

"Yeah, but how does it work?"

"They slice the tip of his dick off."

I scoffed as Richie added, "But then Stan will have nothing left!"

"How do you know what Stan's dick looks like?" I asked Richie. He only shrugged.

Then, as if summoned by us, our friend Stan Uris appeared at our side.

Stan is a jew, the rabbi's son. I think the rabbi is the jew version of a priest, but I don't know much about his religion. He's cute, what with his curly hair and nice clothes, but not my type.

"Hey guys!"

Everyone was silent.

"Hi Stanny.." I mumbled, trying to not laugh at how absurd the boys next to us were.

"S-Stan, what ha-happens at a bar mitzvah? Eds says they slice the tip of you d-d-dick off." Bill asked the question on everyone's minds.

"Yeah Stan The Man, I think that the rabbi's gonna pull down your pants, turn to the crowd, and say, "where's the beef?!" Richie added.
