Toby, a 19 year old boy that had several mental illness, a terrible backstory, and who was known to be a killer, a person who was supposed to be nothing, feel nothing. is suddenly coughing up red flower petals. red. "this cant be happening. this cant be happening. this cant be happening."
Red flower petals? "Maybe it's a one time thing" he didnt think that when he began to cough up red azaleas. definitely not when they began to grow on him. "it cant be him, he hates me, god he hates me! and i hate him! right? It cant be him."

Tim, a 20 year old who also had several mental illness, also a terrible backstory and someone who was thought to be a killer and a stalker. a masked man who was dull, short tempered, and empty. he didn't like anybody and nobody liked him. or so he thought. He doesn't like Toby and Toby doesn't like him. when he begins to feel weird around him he makes himself hate Toby more. so why the hell are orange butterfly weeds growing in his room?

Hanahaki Disease is a disease where the victim is in, or thinks they are in, a unrequited or one-sided love begins to vomit or cough up the petals and flowers growing in their lungs, which will eventually grow large enough to render breathing impossible if left untreated. There is no set time for how long this disease lasts but it may last from 2 weeks to 3 months, in rare cases up to 18 months, until the victim dies unless the feelings are returned or the plants are surgically removed. if its removed surgically, the victim is no longer able to feel any feelings at all, there are about 5 cases where they're able to feel again.

Who ever the victims love is, they start seeing flowers grow around them or their property, it is still unknown if it means they feel the same or not.
