Life is Fair
Luckily, we made it in time for our accounting class. I had to give Linny a sheet of paper again because she was not prepared.
"What is in your bag?" I asked frustrated.
"What needs to be there, my makeup," she said looking through it and taking out her lipstick to show me, "do you want to try it on, its rouge and it would look terrific on you.
"No thank you," I said, "I am modest, and makeup is not Christian like".
"Just a little," she said "I swear you won't go to hell, not today" she laughed, and I rolled my eyes at her. I looked up and saw Jose coming in the class late like he usually is.
"You drink too much!" I said leaning towards him as he was going to sit, he sat at my right on a different desk, "stop being a bad influence on my friend" I whispered.
"She was already like this when I found her," he said leaning back over to me, sticking out his tongue at me quickly then he sat with his back straight in his seat mocking me.
"Oh, stop it" said Linny, she slapped me lightly on my left shoulder, "I am going to sit with him, okay?" she asked.
"Yeah it's fine, go ahead I'll just stick it out alone" I said hiding my loneliness.
"Okay thanks girl!" she patted me on my left shoulder, as she picked up her bag and walked hurriedly to her fiancé. As she got to his seat she leaned over and gave him a kiss on his cheek. The professor was not here as yet and no one else minded them.
After Class Linny and Jose came over to me.
"So, I will meet you and Sarah for lunch" she said as she pointed her long nails to me, I call them claws.
"Okay," I shrugged. We walked away from each other. I was going to be alone for an hour and so I went to the library to read a little. I was stressed out not only because I had school, but I had work at 1:30 and I my day was crappy already. My friends are busy with their fiancés and so I'm here alone like a freshman.
I sat in the corner behind some big bookshelves where there was a small couch, that is my comfy hangout spot. It was warm and I needed some warmth.
I was alone for a while until I heard some footsteps. Out came a tall, familiar masculine figure showing only his back as he looked at the spines of the books searching for something. I looked away to avoid conversation.
I placed my long black maxi skirt in between my legs to be modest and I placed my legs on the couch because I did not want anyone to sit beside me. I did not want him to sit beside me.
"Excuse me miss," said a voice that seemed so familiar, I felt the waves touching my feet again. I looked up slowly, and it was the guy who I bumped into today.
"Hi," I said coldly and a little nervous.
"I am sorry to bother you, I am trying to find a book but I cannot seem to find it," he looked at me with with his soft brown almond eyes and his melodious voice, I felt as if I was drowning with each vibration from his voice.
"What book is it?" I asked politely, putting my legs down.
He looked at the paper and the leaned towards me to show me. "This one," he said as the corner of his left lip went up as he smiled at me.
I gulped and looked away shyly. "Follow me," I said as I sitting erect and then stood up. I explained to him how to find the book he was looking for as he walked slowly with me listening to my every direction intently.
