I ran through the halls, remembering them all too well. Grounders around me were fighting with mountain men, as I tried to stay clear of all the fighting. My job was to find my friends and lead them to the exit. The people who helped my friends as well as children and elders were being held on level 5, where they were safe and wouldn't be exposed to the radiation. But everyone else, all the people that hurt us, they were dying today. I quickly looked at my map, realizing I was only on level 2. My friends should be on level 5, protecting the innocent. I ran down the hallway towards another set of stairs and ran up them as fast as possible. I pushed the door open and saw the sign that said I was on level 3. I resumed my run and as I turned a corner, I ran straight into a big man. He was a mountain men soldier I noticed quickly. I backed away but stopped when he pointed his gun at me. I held my hands up, showing that I was not a threat.
"If it isn't Clarke. We've been looking for you." The man said. He had a gruff voice, almost making it impossible to understand him.
"Why were you looking for me?" I snapped at him.
"Because we knew if we got you then the commander would come running to save you only to find you dead and her head cut off." The man laughed creepily. I shuddered at the thought of them killing Lexa. So this was there great plan. It was very stupid. I shook my head and looked him dead in the eye.
"The commander would cut yours off before you could blink." I warned. I didn't know if she could but I was sure she would if she wanted to.
"Don't threaten me girl, I will shoot you!" He snapped angrily. He released the safety and rose the gun, aiming it at my head. I shut my eyes and prepared for the worst.
Then, suddenly, I heard a whizzing sound right past my head. I opened my eyes quickly but in a flash a gunshot rang out and I was getting pushed to the ground. I fell and grunted as did the person who had a tight but gentle grip on me. I sank to the ground and put my head into my hands that were shaking like crazy. The person who saved me pulled me closer to them but I didn't dare open my eyes. I was terrified.
"Clarke? Clarke, it's okay, you're safe. Please don't cry." I heard Lexa whisper. She took a hold of my arms and slowly pried them away from my face. I looked at her, and stared into her green eyes. She wiped a lone tear away from my face and I saw all the fear in her eyes. She was worried.
"Are you okay Clarke? Are you hurt?" Lexa asked. Her eyes roamed my body, looking for injuries. I shook my head.
"I'm alright Lexa." I whispered. She nodded her head and gripped my upper arms. She easily lifted me up, being very gentle. She brushed off my jacket with her hands and pushed back a few stray pieces of hair that were on my face. Lexa smiled at me and I only nodded my head, letting her know I was okay. She let go and turned around to get her dagger that was embedded in the heart of the mountain man. Lexa pulled out the dagger quickly and wiped the blood off it. She then put it back in one of the many dagger pockets on her armor. I was sure she probably had at least fifteen on her, which really didn't surprise me.
"Clarke, I want you to have something." Lexa pulled out another dagger and I recognized it to be the same one she was fiddling with the first day I met her.
"This is my favorite dagger. It has been passed down through many commanders before me. They say it brings good luck but I don't believe in luck all that much. But, maybe you do and I want you to have it for now, to bring you luck and protect you." Lexa explained. I glanced between her and the knife. She was giving me her most prized dagger? Could this day get any weirder?
"Lexa, you don't need to give me a dagger. I will be okay." I insisted. But she only shook her head and held it out to me.
"Clarke you may need it. Your gun will not always protect you. Please take it Clarke." Lexa said. I looked at her and she smiled again. I sighed and took the dagger, surprised at how light it was. I smiled back at Lexa.
"It's time to save your friends Clarke. This fight is almost over." Lexa said, slipping back into her mask. She turned quickly, running back down to the fight. I sighed and went in the other direction, with a weird feeling bubbling in my stomach.
