The next night as Izzie was walking to see KoKo she ran into Russell, The Town Drunk. "Whoa! Elizabeth?" Russell slurs, "Where are you going in such a hurry? The bar just closed and might I say your sister is getting prettier every-time I see her." He slurs. Izzie was appalled by Russell, " you keep your eyes to the floor and your hands to yourself, you old drunk!" Izzie says as she storms off to go to the spot she last saw KoKo.
Though the trails were dark the fireflies lead Izzie down through the forest to the tallest tree within. That's when she found KoKo with her head tilted up to the sky as if she were in deep thought. Izzie slowly made her way over to the branch that The owl was perched upon so not to disturb the peace and tranquility of the seen before her. KoKo looks in the direction of Izzie,"Nice to 'see' you again!" She chuckles. Izzie with a puzzled look to her face, "Wait you can see me?" "Ohh no dear, I simply sensed your presence." KoKo continues, " I cannot see your physical form, but I see you as a constellation in the stars." Izzie looks at KoKo in amazement, "That is amazing KoKo, It must be more beautiful to see the things you see instead of the bland world I see everyday." she says as she looks down to the dew soaked ground notices her shoes glistened with the midnight moon shinning onto the droplets upon her raggedy old shoes. "KoKo? How is that you became blind?" Izzie asks in a curious tone.
"Oh Izzie that's not a beautiful story at all. It is quite painful honestly. I'm not sure if you're ready for that one." Koko said as she questioned herself. She wasn't sure if she was ready to tell this terrible tale. Izzie looks solemnly at KoKo and believes it is best to not ask but to wait until she is ready to tell that painful revelation about herself, instead Izzie asks, "Koko, if I may, what shall we do tonight? I know you mustn't have strayed to far from this branch, for reasons I do not know but how about a stroll unto some new territory?" Izz asks in a hopeful glee, "I know you may not want to but I feel as if there is a whole journey ahead of us and we mustn't stay in one area to find all the hidden jewels this world, and many others, have to offer."
I have been on this branch for quite sometime Koko thought. "If an adventure is what you want it's what you'll get. Let's go see my old friend Amelia, but we must be careful this forest is mighty dangerous." Koko exclaimed. Izzie looks at KoKo and wonders, Dangerous? "What do you mean Dangerous KoKo? What's out here to be scared of? It is such a beautiful wonderful place from what I've seen, and from what I've felt walking towards this tree." Izzie says as she looks around wondering what could be so bad about such a wonderful forest that seems to be bustling with the life of rodents and small mammals. Just across the trail she seen a couple little rabbits running back to their burrow, bellies looking full from a midnight snack.
"What's so dangerous!?" KoKo screeched, than continued, "there is darkness around us. There are shadows that lurk amongst the light you see child." Koko paused as she turned her head backwards and gazed at the path Izzie had not yet traveled. "There are wolves, hunters, and many other bad creatures down this way," Koko explained as she turned her head back around. "If we must go; you have to promise, no swear, to stay within sight, and reach Izzie." Izzie pondered on what she was saying and was really in deep thought. Is this forest that dangerous? Is it responsible to continue with what I had asked? Should we stay? Izzie looks back towards town and watches the old town still with no life except for Russell and Izzie then decided it was time to go and explore with her new found friend KoKo and leave Jameston behind until next time. Izzie looks at KoKo and says, "I swear KoKo, I will do as you say, I will stay within sight and reach." With a sigh of relief KoKo ruffles her feathers and flaps her wings , she lifts up off the branch she has oh so long been sitting on and came to float above Izzie's head. Izzie glanced up at KoKo and said, "Lead the way.."
