"Hey um, David?" I turned around. A girl whom I was pretty sure was a senior was speaking to me. "Yeah?" "Do you like, want to go to the Hallowe'en Ball with me?" This has been like the third girl today to ask me. What the hells going on? "No, me and Mari are doing something that night," I answered rather snippily. "Oh, I thought you two had broken up," she replied. "What would make you think that?" "Well, you haven't really talked that much for a while and you always seem unhappy around each other," she said hopefully. "Well we're still dating and I still love her, so if you want to tell all your friends to go the fuck away, that'd be great," I said icily. She walked away with a hurt expression. I've never been good with people. I've never really had a friend up until now. I can't believe all these girls are asking me to dances just because I'm dating Mari. I guess you just need to break down that wall. I've noticed it too though. She's been oddly distant, kinda depressed and gets mad really quickly. I hope everything's okay with her.
After school, I met up with Mari. She looked really pale. "Are you okay?" I asked her. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replied groggily. She headed towards me and wrapped her arm around my waist. She then slumped to the ground. I caught her before she hit. "Mari! MARI! Hey wake up! Wake up please!" Oh shit. No, this is the last thing she needs. I carried her to my truck and drove her home. I carried her out and to her house. Hiro was inside already at the kitchen counter. "Woah, what the hell is wrong with her?" He asked. "I don't know, she just passed out on me," I responded. I carried her upstairs and laid her down. It took her about five minutes for her to come around. "Hey what's up?" I asked. She looked around with squinted eyes. "Uh, I don't know," she said absentmindedly. She came to her senses. "What time is it?" She asked frantically. "3:45, why?" I asked quizzically. "I have to go. Like now," she said urgently. She got up quickly and threw on shoes and grabbed something hanging on a lanyard. "Hold on, you need to sit down," I said. "Nope sorry, I gotta go. I love you," she kissed me briefly. I was getting really worried about her. "Where the hell are you going?" I said as I whirled her shoulders around. "I'm going to my job alright? I need the extra money for my trip," she confessed. "Ok, why wouldn't you tell me something like that? That's great, but you should really call in sick," I worried. She pretended she didn't hear me and walked out, leaving me alone in her room when she was passed out just five minutes ago.
