Temptation

Chapter 1:

Jade wake up. I hear my mom's awful squeaky voice from downstairs. I stretch my arms out, and rub my eyes while i adjust to the overbearing light that has unfortunately taken the dark away from my room. I lazily roll off my bed, neatly putting the sheets back in its place, as it will be the last time i would see my room for a while. I was going to college. 

I had waited all summer for this moment. Sure I would miss high school and the few friends that i did have, but college was far more exciting. This was going to be the year, where i can finally get to know myself better; experience new things, meet new people, do things i never imagined of doing while i was in high school. It was going to be a change.

Jade will you get downstairs now!!!! My mother said one again. I was most excited not to see her every morning when i wake up. I love my mother, i really do, but this is something we both need. I've been stuck under her wing for 20 years of my life. I think its time for the both of us to say good bye. 

I am coming, will you stop yelling at me!. I got dressed, brushed my hair and teeth, as usual and walked downstairs. I had prepared everything i would need for college last night, as my mother insisted, so i had nothing to worry about this morning.

So, are you excited? my mother asked me, while she set two bowls on the table and filled it with my favourite cereal.

Yeh, I am actually. 

Well great. We better get a move on. Matthew, wants to say bye to you before we leave.

Matthew was an old friend of mine. We dated a couple of times in high school, but it didn't really work out so we stayed friends. My mother still thinks were dating, because of how protective he is of me, and also his family is insanely rich. My mother assumes she has my future planned out for me.

I walked outside and put my luggage in the car while i waited for my mother. I checked everything off my "before leaving for college" List, as i am quite the neat freak. 

Hey, i'm gonna miss you. I lifted my head to see Matthew walking my way. I smiled and walked up to him greeting him with a hug.

Hey Matt. i'm gonna miss you to. 

Don't do anything stupid, he said and grabbed my face with both his hands. 

You know i wont. 

He gave me a kiss on the cheek, something he usually does all the time, which i really find uncomfortable but i rather not discuss it with him. 

Honey! Are you ready! My mother said while shutting the door behind her and walking to her car.

I think so.

She got in the car and waited for me while i turned myself back to Matthew.

Anyway, I'll call you when i get there ok. 

Yeh ok, be safe. 

I hugged him one last time, and got in the car. 

Now i have a few rules to discuss with you.

Mother, not this again. I'm 20 years old, I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself.

Now Honey, you know how i feel about college. I don't want you getting involved with unsophisticated low class people. You are not like that. 

Don't worry, mother, i will be fine. 

Watch you're tone with my young lady. She said, while she rolled down her window and took a piece of gum out of her purse. 

 I expect the best out of you in college. I want good greats, and of course I want Matthew to see how much of a lady you have become after you're first semester.

Mom, you do know Matthew and I are not together right. I don't have to do anything for him.

Now, Now. You want a bright future. Matthew is a wonderful young man. He's studying to be a doctor and his family is wonderful.

Mother, you only like them because they have money, and you keep pestering me  about how he can support me when I'm older.

Well clearly dear. I want you to marry the perfect man.

I rolled my eyes, and focused myself back on the road. this was exactly the reason why I decided to go to school at UCLA instead of the ones that were closer near my house. I needed to get away from everything. My mother especially.
