I'm currently debating whether I should boot Hinata from the story or not. I could just say that she died along with Naruto and the others, or I could keep her for some Kakashi character development later on in the story. Just post your thoughts on the comments on this paragraph. No matter what, I am shortening her mentions in the first chapter of this story. So here's the story and enjoy!
My mind swirled at the thought of letting them go. I couldn't do that... or could I?
Tsunade had told me multiple times to get over their deaths, though I often turned a deaf ear to her words nowadays.
I knew that I couldn't just kill myself with Anbu watching me. Anyways, the villages need as much shinobi as possible with the massacre of a large portion of the shinobi force, which was the same massacre my students were killed.
There I go again thinking about them...
I considered ripping out my left eye for a moment, but what good would that do for me?
All that would do was make me a even more worthless shinobi.
I finally decided that I would give in to Tsunade.
I went outside of my mess of housing and headed to the Hokage building. I walked up in front of the door to the Hokage's office. I could hear Tsunade's voice talking to probably another shinobi.
I raised my fist and knocked on the door.
"Come in." Tsunade's voice rang.
Short time skip
"Really... a D rank mission."
"Yes Kakashi, we need people to help rebuilding the walls of the Leaf."
"Don't you have some kind of builders to do that?"
"No, we need the extra work force. And besides, you wanted something to do and occupy your mind right?"
I sighed, "Fine, I'll do it."
Although it was really faint, I could see the small smile on the corner of Tsunade's mouth.
"Good, you are dismissed."
I walked out of the Hokage's office and out of the building. Tsunade had informed me that the work would start tomorrow, and due to me being out of duty for too long, I had to start low.
I could see the obvious lie in that. Shinobi of all ranks were needed for a lot of work in the Leaf, and of what he heard, in the other villages the situation was the same.
To think of it, I had been surprised that Tsunade had not forced me to work earlier. I never really left my residence, but I knew the walls had been heavily damaged.
I saw how much damage there really was and just how much people were working on it to fix it. The wall was on the verge of collapsing completely, and had hundreds, maybe thousands of people working on the repairs.
The amount of people working on repairing it was similar to the amount who were working on it after Pain's attack on the Leaf Village.
Kakashi sat on a ledge and pulled out a copy of Icha Icha and started to read...
A few hours later
I finally looked up from my book and realized the sun was already setting. I walked back home feeling a bit more free than usual...
I walked into my trashed residence and decided to clean up a bit before going to bed. After a little while, I looked at the room, proud of myself, and laid in bed.
And for once in a very long time, or at least it felt like it, I didn't have a nightmare as I drifted away to sleep...
Hey! Again, this was an extremely short chapter and most of the chapters of this story won't be very long. That basically all I have to say for this, and I will update this story again before the new year. I promise. So that was it, this is ur boi Scavenger signing off, and stay safe and healthy my fellow Shinobi lovers!
