It was a clear twilight morning and the Sun was just coming up. I could almost smell the worms, the hungry fish and the algae covered lake. I grab my bait box and fishing pole as I start loading them in my new black truck. I make sure the boat is hooked up tightly to the back of it. I grab my keys, calling my black Labrador Max, get in the truck and drive to the lake. It's about a 15 minute drive and all Max does is enjoy the wind with his face stuck out the window. We arrive at the lake's parking lot and I notice it's deserted, besides the one truck at the far end. I back the boat into the water, unhook it and tie it to the board walk so i can park the truck. When I get back I see that Max is waiting for me egarly in boat. So I untie the rope, push away from the shore and start the motor. I drive to the middle of the lake where I only see one other boat. It's the only other boat I've seen but the boat doesn't look like anyone is in it. I figure they're probably just laying down then I cast my baited fishing line out as far into the deep water as I can and then I wait for a hungry fish to eat my drowning worm.

It's been about 20 minutes and I've only gotten a few nibbles and three drowned worms. The boat I saw earlier has drifted closer to me now and I could see the contents of it. There was no one on it...at least not all of him. He's just a torso with arms and a head. He looked as if he were bit off just above the belt line. I just stared in horror. It was obvious he hadn't been dead long. Just then Max starts barking, breaking me out of my horrified daze.
I look to see he's barking at the water. Next thing I know I feel something charge the boat, then a splash. It nearly knocked me into the water. I look around to see what it was but all I see is Max swimming back to the boat. But when I reach to pull him in something takes him under. Moments later there was bubbles.. Then blood.

Tears start flooding. As I look through my pockets for my cell phone. Not finding it I panic. I look through my tackle box for something, anything to defend myself. Not finding anything I try to reach for the other boat. But the mysterious creature charges again, knocking me into the water and breaking the boat in two. I see large silvery webbed fins emerge, heading toward me. Panicked I race to the other boat getting to it just in time. I climes in, not caring that I landed on the half eaten man.
I look around, not seeing the beast. Feeling slightly relived I pull myself together. I look through the tackle box and fine a flare gun with an extra flare. I quickly shoot one in the air hoping someone will see, and decide to save the other for defence.

It felt like hours since I shot the flare. There's been no movement in the water. Help still hasn't come either. I was exhausted, tired, and hungry.
Minutes later I begin dozing off. I was almost asleep when I hear this deafening, terrifying screech that wake me up with a jolt. Wide eyed and terrified I look in the direction it came from to see the firmiliar silver fin charging my way. I quickly load the flare into the gun, aim and shoot. Direct hit. I see blood and the finally goes back under. I sigh in relief. It's over.
Jut then I see bubbles coming up from the water around the boat. Next thing I know I'm flung 10 feet into the air and dive into the water, sinking... I open my eyes under water just long enough to see the beast. Sharp needle like teeth, long snout and piecing read eyes coming toward me. Knowing I won't escape this I close my eyes and prepare myself.

I open my eyes, sweaty. I look around to see I'm in my bedroom. My wife sleeping next to me an Max sleeping at my feet. Tears in my eyes I get up and go to the bathroom. I splash water in my face and look in the mirror. "I don't ever want to sleep again"
