Raven and I got down from the horse slowly. I handed the guard my weapons, including Lexa's knife. I didn't like the fact that I didn't have it with me but I knew it would be returned. Raven gave the guard her weapons and we walked into Tondc. Grounders were walking around, doing many different things. I saw a lot of new structured huts and soon saw the commanders tent in all its glory. I smiled and walked faster towards her tent but was stopped by a guard at the entrance.
"Heda is not to be disturbed." He said. I frowned, what was wrong? I pushed past him as fast I could and made my way inside. I saw Lexa on the floor, her eyes shut. Indra was nearby, startled at my quick entrance.
"Heda, I told her not to disturb you but she shoved by. I apologize and will take her to the pit." The guard informed the commander. He grabbed me by the arm roughly and started pulling me away from Lexa. She opened her eyes and once she realized it was me, she got up quickly.
"Stand down. There is no need to take her to the pit." Lexa said calmly. She was glaring at the guard who only tightened his grip on me. Ouch.
"But she disobeyed Heda. She needs to be punished." He complained. I tried to get out of his grip but it was no use. I made eye contact with Lexa, and winced. I wanted her to know that he was hurting me. She scowled once she realized and quickly drew her sword and pointed it at his heart.
"I said let go." Lexa said, her voice deepening. She looked scary with her war paint on, as she was giving the man one of her famous death glares. He quickly let go.
"Sha Heda." He mumbled as he walked out the tent. I rubbed my arm where he had gripped it. It still hurt.
"Are you alright Clarke?" Lexa asked gently. She put her sword back and came over to me, touching my hurt arm gently. Her fingers touched my skin and to me, it felt like a burning fire. Wow.
"Clarke?" Lexa repeated, the concern noticeable in her voice. I realized that I had not said anything and gave her a quick smile.
"I'm okay." I reassured her. She nodded her head and stepped away. Indra was staring at us, confusion and anger evident on her face. But she didn't say anything.
"Clarke, it is nice that you have graced us with your presence. Tomorrow we will be meeting with my generals to discuss the treaty. I hope it will be easy to negotiate and get them to agree, but knowing some it might not be as easy." Lexa informed me, slipping back into commander mode.
"Alright, what happens if not everyone can agree on the treaty?" I asked.
"Then I will have no choice but to either declare war or wipe everyone out at camp jaha. Many of my people are afraid and feel that it is better to get rid of you all now. But I hope to change their minds when they realize you are no threat to us, if you agree to the treaty." Lexa said. I pondered over this information. It made a lot of sense. I hoped it didn't come down to our deaths in the end.
"Okay commander." I replied. Lexa turned to Indra and informed her to leave us. She hesitated but did what she was told. Lexa then gathered two cups from a table, pouring a drink into the cups. She handed me a cup and it felt nice for the cold water to slide down my throat.
"How have you been Clarke?" Lexa asked.
"I don't know, honestly. When I was at camp, I really wanted to leave. I was sad. I wanted to go out and just surround myself with nature. I wanted to learn something new." I told her. If I was with anyone else, I would've told them I was fine, but Lexa knew me well and I couldn't lie to her.
"We're you not allowed to leave camp?" Lexa asked while setting her cup down and sitting on her bed. I took it upon myself to sit next to her, but not too close.
"No, my mom wouldn't let me do much. I was very miserable." I said. I wanted to add the fact that I had also wanted to see Lexa again but there was no way I was going to embarrass myself like that.
"Well Clarke, during your stay here, you may do what you like. You can venture out of Tondc, but only if you bring a guard with you. Some of my people still do not accept you and I do not want you to get hurt." Lexa said.
"Thank you Lexa." I replied. It felt nice to be cared for, even if only a little. She just probably needed me to stay alive because I was the only person who cared about the alliance between her and i's people.
"How have you been Lexa?" I asked.
She sighed quietly. "As good as I can be right now Clarke. My people aren't quite happy with me at the moment." Lexa said. She seemed saddened by this. I knew that Lexa was only trying to do what was best for her people.
"I'm sorry Lexa, that my people are causing distress between you and your people. They may seem upset now but they will look back on this time and see that you were doing what you thought was best." I encouraged her. I grabbed her left hand gently and gave it a squeeze.
"You are right Clarke. Thank you for that hopeful speech." Lexa said. Her mouth twitched up into a smile. We stared deeply into each other's eyes, just taking in each other's presence. It felt so great to just be here with Lexa, seeing her more vulnerable side. This was a part of her that I wanted to see for a long time. I was so intoxicated by Lexa that I didn't even notice her thumb rubbing the back of my hand, and I don't think she noticed either.
"Clarke? Is everything okay in there? Can I come in?" Raven yelled from outside the tent. At the sound of her voice, Lexa and I jumped apart, both startled by the girl. Lexa glanced at me, breathless, and nodded her head. She turned away from me.
"Yeah Raven, you can come in!" I yelled back. Raven entered quickly and shot me a smile.
"Afternoon Raven." Lexa said, turning around to look at the girl. Raven waved at Lexa excitedly, in which Lexa only looked at me with confusion. She looked so cute.
"It's a way of saying hello." I informed her. She nodded her head and looked back at Raven. She wouldn't meet my eyes like she normally did and I wasn't really happy about that.
"I was just wondering where I would be staying? After Clarke's erupt departure, I was left very lost." Raven said.
"I do not have a tent prepared for you currently, as I did not know of your arrival. You may stay with Clarke in her tent if you'd like until tomorrow." Lexa says.
"Yeah, I don't mind. Well, uh, I'll see you later." Raven mumbled. She made a quick exit and I was left alone with Lexa again, but it felt different. Our peaceful moment was gone.
"I think I'm going to head out as well. I'll see you tomorrow Lexa." I said, getting up off the bed and facing her. It felt awkward and I noticed her playing with her fingers nervously , something I had not seen her do before. She still refused to make eye contact with me.
"Goodnight Clarke. May we meet again." Lexa said jokingly.
"Oh my god Lexa, don't be so dramatic!" I exclaimed, hitting her arm but not too hard. She laughed a little and it was the most perfect sound i had ever heard. Could she seriously get any cuter? I shook my head, laughing as well. I started to leave and flashed her a smile before I left the tent. It was almost dark out. I asked a nearby guard if he knew where my tent was and I followed him to it. I found Raven fast asleep on the bed, taking up almost the whole thing. I changed out of my gear and slid under the covers. I fell asleep quickly, with a particular green eyed girl on my mind.
