My eyes widened in horror as a bullet tore through my father's forehead, taking his life before I could blink. This is soooo not how I imagined my graduation night.His body landed on the ground with a thud.My mother placed her hand over her mouth, letting out muffled cries.Her usually bright hazel eyes were dull, swollen and stained with tears from hours of crying while begging for my father's life."Xera, run, please...for God's sake run."she said, her voice cracking at the end. "It is. .."She let out a loud cry as they stabbed her in the heart. Her eyes instantly closed, she let out a barely audible whisper"I'm sorry Xerania"Then she dropped to the ground, her lifeless body lay next to my father's.I slowly backed away and ran before I could register what I was doing.The footsteps behind me were getting closer so I increased my speed. Thank God for gym class. I ran and ran with not even the least bit sense of direction .Then I reached a dead end, a river. The footsteps were getting louder meaning it was not long before they found me.God help me. With that, I dived into the midnight river and almost yelled at how cold it was. I held my breath and waited, listening as the assassins shouted profanities.I was starting to get dizzy from holding my breath for too long. I fell on a hard rock at the bottom of the river and slowly started slipping away into oblivion. Oh shit...am soooo dead
