As Vanya handed Five the coffee, noticing the girl's new position.
She laid her head on his chest, and her legs were hung over the arm of the chair. She didnt question the two, and just sat back down.
"We survived on canned food, cockroaches, anything we could find. You know that theory that twinkies have an endless shelf life?"
Vanya nodded.
"Well its total bullshit." Y/N mumbled, digging her head into the boy's chest.
"We survived on canned food, scraps, cockroaches. Anything we could find." The raven-haired explained.
"We?" Vanya's thoughts flooded her mind about who Five was with. If it was Y/N it would make sense, but who?
"Got anything stronger?" He avoided the 'we' question again, holding out the mug.
Vanya poured the boy a cup of alcohol.
Five slowly lifted the girl up, setting her back down onto the chair. She groaned, but quickly became comfortable again.
Five took the cup, and drank a bit of the sour beverage.
Vanya just stared at him. The assassin scoffed, "You think im crazy."
There was a faint hum in agreement from the H/C girl on the couch. "N-no, I just... its a lot to take in."
"Exactly what dont you understand?"
"Why didn't you just jump back?"
Five scoffed, and let out a breath. "Gee, wish I'd thought of that! Time travel is a crap shoot." He scowled at his sister."He went into the water... " Y/N yawned, "And never... acorned."
"Dad always said that time travel could mess up your mind. Maybe that's what's happening?" Vanya tried to reason with her stubborn brother, knowing it would probably be no use.
"This was a mistake. Your too young. To naïve to understand." He placed the cup on the table and walked over to the sleeping girl.
"No- No! Five wait!" Vanya protested.
"I-I havent seen you in a long time. Its late, and I need to sleep, I have practice in the morning, and im sure you need to, too."
Five looked to his sister with narrowed eyes, "You can sleep on the couch, she looked exhausted." Vanya pointed to Y/N.
Five slightly nodded. "Goodnight, Five."
Vanya walked to her room and he mumbled a goodnight.
Five picked the girl back up, and sat on the couch, placing her back on his lap. She groaned again from him waking her up.
She continued to dig her head into the boy's chest, making butterflies swarm his stomach. "Can we just stay here? For a few more minutes?" The girl whispered.
He hummed a yes, digging in one of his pockets. He pulled out a handkerchief, and inside was a prosthetic eye. The pupil was brown, with a hint of green.
Y/N groaned again, not feeling comfortable.
She sat up, straddling him and laid her her head onto his shoulder, slightly wrapping her arms around him. The girl began to feel comfortable again with the position, and her breathing got slower.
The same butterflies came back as he felt her breath slightly on his neck.
Rolling the eye in his hand, he read the label on the back. 'Meritech'. Five was almost certain that the person who this eye belonged to, was the person who caused the apocalypse.
