Clarion was sitting at the border. She and Milori had been meeting for months every night at the border. She couldn't possibly be happier since she met Milori. Today was an even better day than the one before.

Clarion was looking at the stars waiting for Milori. She was a few minutes early so she had to wait for him for once. Suddenly she heard a crack that came from the winter woods. She jumped and looked up startled. "Scare you, love?" Milori asked smirking. She rolled her eyes at him and smiled. She stood up, kissed him, and they sat back down side by side on the border.

"Now why are you so happy?" he asked her with a raised eyebrow. "I don't know. Today's just a good day" she responded with grinning ear to ear.
"Does it have anything to do with the fact that it's Christmas eve?"

"Mm...maybe...." she was trying to not smile while thinking of Christmas time. After all, it was her favorite day of the year and it was her first one with him. Clarion sat on Milori's lap and smiled at him. She couldn't believe how much she grew to love him.

(Milori's POV)
Clarion moved so she was in my lap and she grinned at me. Every time I saw her smile my love for her doubled. I didn't know how it was possible to love someone this much. I knew how much she adored Christmas so naturally, I got her a gift. I planned to give it to her at midnight right as it became Christmas day. I just hope she liked it.

(Normal POV)
Clarions eyes twinkled as she looked up at him. He leaned down and softly kissed her lips. It didn't matter how many times they kissed, she always got butterflies.
"So how was your day love?"

"It was the same as always. The ministers argued over the best season, some tinker got herself into a messy situation, and I looked forward to meeting here" she smiled as she finished the last sentence.
Milori loved that answer and put his arm around her while holding her closer.

"How was your day?"
"Well....we accidentally froze 20 baskets the tinkers made...." he made an awkward/sarcastic smile. Clarion's eyes went wide and her mouth dropped open. "Luv, close your mouth you look like a codfish," he said and then he kissed her forehead. "Do you have any idea how mad Mary will be!? Gosh, she was mad about how you needed extra baskets in the first place. And then you freeze them!?" she told him. He just smiled at her.

"Will you stop that?" clarion said looking at his eyes. "Stop what love?" he said looking into her eyes and smiling sweetly. Clarion blushed and figured she would get back to the entire basket situation another time.

"You know what your- BY THE SECOND STAR WHAT TIME IS IT?!" she shouted. "It is 11:57 my love" Milori answered and smiled. "It's so late! Also, it's Christmas in 3 minutes!" she squealed in excitement. "I'm aware, Ree" he put his hand in his pocket and played with the box that was inside it.

"Was this your plan all along? To keep me here late so you can be the first person I see on Christmas day?" she raised an eyebrow. "Sure love. I guess you could say it's something like that" milori looked at his watch and noticed it was 1 minute till Christmas. "One minute." Clarion knew what he meant and she smiled. "5,4,3,2,1," they both said simultaneously. "Merry Christmas!" Clarion yelled as she jumped up and hugged Milori. "Merry Christmas Luv" Milori told her as he kissed her.

"I know you said not to get you anything but I couldn't help myself!" Clarion began to pull out a small wrapped gift. Milori rolled his eyes as a way to say "you really shouldn't have." Clarion handed it to him. "Don't just stand there dear! Open it!" Clarion playfully shouted at him.

"Alright love! Alright. No need to shout" he said while laughing. Clarion was on the edge of her seat seeing him open it. Milori began unwrapping the paper and smiled wide when he saw what it was.
"Do you like it...?" Clarion asked nervously. "Yes, I love it," he said genuinely. It was a framed photo of them. He was holding her bridal style at the border, they were both smiling and laughing in it. Mary had taken it of them. The frame was half an autumn leaf and a snowflake which matched up perfectly.

"Now how on earth will mine top this?" he questioned looking at her. Her eyes grew wide as she said, "You didn't need to get me something." "Well I said the same thing and still got one" he responded. He pulled out of his pocket the small box and he handed it to her. Her smile grew as wider then he had ever seen it. When she opened it there was a necklace in the shape of butterfly wings. It was a gold chain, with golden wings that had small crystals in it.

"By the second star!" she yelled. Her eyes began to get teary-eyed. "Now why are you going to cry, love? Don't you like it?" he said looking puzzled. "Yes, I love it! It's so beautiful!" she smiled at him and had him put it on her. "Well don't you look breath-taking" he complimented. She blushed and smiled. "I promise no matter what I'm going to wear it forever" she promised.

Clarion kept the promise of never taking off the necklace. Even after they were separated she wore it. And Milori kept the picture of them on his nightstand never moving it from its spot.
