The Guardian's Tale (AOT fanfiction)

-Monsters pt.3-

In the small room, Hange was taking care or Eren's wounds and Levi was patting my head.

"Sorry about that, shrimp." He looked at me and saw that my eyes had tears in the corner. "Okay fine c'mere." He pulled me in for a small hug.

"Are you alright Yuki ?" Commander Erwin said as he knelt down to my level. "You didn't have to go so hard on her." He scolded Captain Levi.

"I...I'm fine...Thank you Commander." I smiled and let go of Levi. "After all we did get placed in your custody." I said as he rubbed the top of my head.

"Oh wow..." Hange said as we all turned to her. "Eren's lost tooth already grew back." She moved to me and lifted my hair to show the side of my head. "Wow and the cut on the side of your head too." She looked me over. "And so have all your wounds...THIS IS INCREDIBLE !"

"I didn't know you had that in you shrimp." Levi said as he pulled me in so that my head was resting on his lap. "All that fire and...eye color changing shit."

We peacefully rode our horses as we approached the Scout Regiment's old headquarters. My eyes sparkled with aw and excitement as I saw an old but beautiful castle. I looked at Captain Levi and pointed at it, my mouth wide open. He sighed and placed his hand on his forehead.

"I know shrimp it's pretty." He looked over at me. "Now close your mouth, I can see your fangs."

I pouted and stuck my tongue out at him but quickly put it back in when he glared in my direction. 

"What was that ?" He asked menacingly.

"Eeh ! S-Sorry nothing..." I looked over at a woman with short, light brown hair. "Petra-Samaaa ! Levi-Sama's being mean." I whined as I moved my horse closer to her.

As we arrived at the castle, I jumped off of my horse and proceeded to take off its saddle. When I looked at it closely, I noticed it was black with a singular white stripe across its face. I let out a small laugh and ran my hand across the fur on his face. Just like me huh ? He then licked my face and I smiled. I remember seeing him when I was little. He was a child just like me back then and I would feed him every day. When I was done taking care of him, I walked over to Eren.

"They're all members of the Scout Regiment's Special Operations Squad. People call it the Levi Squad tho." I said before he nodded. "Petra Rall, 10 kills and 48 kill-assists. Oruo Bozad, 39 kills and 9 assists. Eld Gin, 14 kills and 32 assists. Gunther Schultz, 7 kills and 40 assists. They were all handpicked by Captain Levi." I explained. "They're the ones who'll kill us...if we lose control."

"I'm glad I'm not here alone." He grinned as he bumped his fist to mine. "Say you know alot about them. Did you grow up around them ?" He asked before I nodded.

"Come on shrimp you have work to do." Levi grabbed the collar of my cape and dragged me inside the dusty castle as I whined and try to get away. "You and Eren's rooms are in the basement so try to clean that properly."

I opened the windows of the dining hall and felt the cool breeze hit my face. Jeez I didn't remember cleaning ever being this tiring. I leaned my elbows on the window seal and sighed.

"Slacking off are we shrimp ?" Captain Levi asked, right behind me.

"EEH !" I jumped up and grabbed the duster. "No sir." I stuck my tongue at him while he walked away.

He turned around, glared at me and I quickly sucked my tongue back in. I ran up to him, placed a small peck on his cheek and ran off to help Petra.

"Bye bye dad !" I joked as I ran off.

I was sitting around the dining hall table, next to Petra. Apparently, an expedition was planned 30 days from now and the new graduates were going to be participating right off the bat. I quietly drank my tea, then, unexpectedly, Petra pointed something out.

"Hey Yuki. I always see you wearing this." She pointed at the handkerchief around my arm. "Does that have a special meaning ?" She asked as I slowly set my cup down.

"I...It belonged to someone who became like a big brother to me during the time that I was a cadet...His name was Marco...Marco Bodt." I placed a shaking hand over my mouth to prevent myself from throwing up as I remembered his mutilated body.

Suddenly, Hange burst into the dining hall and she offered Eren and I to help with her experiments, on 2 Titans they had captured alive, the next day. 

"Experiments ?" Eren turned to me and I shrugged. "What would we have to do ?" He turned back to Hange.

"Why...the most exhilarating thing of all of course !" She exclaimed with an over-excited face.

I shuddered and saw Eren's face fill with confusion and a bit of fear. God she always scared me when she made that face. 

"U-Uhm...well we're not in a position to give permission ourselves." I said, rubbing the back of my neck. "See...we don't exactly have authority over ourselves."

"Levi !" Hange called out. "What are Eren and Yuki's plans for tomorrow ?"

"Cleaning the garden." He coldly answered.

"Great ! It's decided !" She turned back to us and grabbed out hands. "I look forward to tomorrow." She said as I sighed, relieved that I didn't have to clean the garden.

"Uh...right..." Eren slowly said as I let out a small laugh.

"What kind of Titan experiments are we talking about Hange-Sama ?" I asked.

"Ahh...I knew it. I thought you might be curious enough to ask. " She said with a sparkle in her eyes as she wiped her glasses.

As soon as she said that, everyone got up and left. Oh right, I'd forgotten how invested she is in her experiments. She let go of Eren and I's hand and sat down next to us. She started explaining everything about the Titans they had recently caught and at some point I dozed off and fell asleep. I was woken up by Eren's hand lightly shaking me and without thinking, I grabbed it and started burning it.

"O-Ow...Yuki it's me...please let go you're burning me." Eren whined.

"H-Huh...? Oh uh...right sorry..." I said as I let go and looked down. "I didn't mean to."

"Let's go !" Hange exclaimed as she grabbed my hand while I was rubbing my eyes.
