CHAPTER 2

SIMON POV

It's shocking that Claire agreed to come out of the house. After what she has been through in the past two weeks, I doubted if she would agree to go out.

Since THAT day she has not stepped out of the house. She gave a resignation letter to the company she was working. Even tho she was an intern she used to get paid. She dis-continued from the college she used to study in.

Thinking of what she has been though from past one month makes my blood boil. I gulp the water and slam the glass on the counter. I hear her coming downstairs so I wear my jacket and put a smile on my face. Pain flashes through my face when I look at her but I quickly shake it off and put back that smile. I put my arms around her shoulder and we leave the house.

CLAIRE POV.

We reach the shopping mall within 30mins. The whole bike ride did give me a back ache. It's not Simons or the bikes fault, it's me who is weak. I wait at the entrance by the time he parks his bike.

While I was staring at the ground waiting for Simon, someone from behind me blindfolds my eyes with their hands. Panic rushes through my body but before I can scream and ask for help I hear a very familiar voice. "Miss gilbert, do you remember me?" . Relief flows through my body as I hear that voice and my lips curve up to a small smile. "Yes Miss Forbes, missed me?" . She removes her hand and within a blink of an eye she has pulled me to a hug. "I missed you" Carol whispers. I hug her back and I see Dan and Ace standing behind carol and watching us. These three are Simons friends but when he introduced me to them, they took care of me as their sister. They used to come to our house for a say over at least once a week and we all used to go outings together. But this hasn't happened for a month and now we back together I guess.

"We missed you too bub" , Dan and Ace say at the same time and they pull me away from carol and both hug me tight. I missed this so much. When we pull back from the hug, I see Simon and Carol greeting each other. They are always so close and I hope they pair up, they both look amazing together.

The rest of the day we spent shopping and eating together. Carol and I bought some clothes together while the boys spent their time in the gaming section. It was five in the evening when we sat at the café to have some refreshments.

"I'm leaving to New York the coming week" Carol spills the tea. Everyone including me stare at her in dis belief. She just shrugs her shoulders and continues to speak. "I've got a job at the NY publishing company as the financial manager she says" . I glance at Simon and see he's happy for her but..he's also kinda sad? "What took you so long to inform us?" Ace asks with a low voice. "I had applied for it two months ago but I didn't receive the confirmation letter until last week. So when I received the confirmation letter I thought of informing you guys immediately, but Simon and Claire were not in the right situation so I decided to tell you guys now". She finishes and fiddles with her fingers. "We are happy for you Carol" Dan says and we all agree to that.

After a while it was time to head back home, so we parted ways but not before giving each other a hug. Simon and Carol shared a quite long hug but initially pulled away. Carol and Simon are the closest among all of us. But they were never more than best friends. After our last bids we part ways.

When we reach back home I was too exhausted to talk anything or do anything. So I go to room and place the stuffs we bought in a corner, I could unpack them tomorrow. I take a quick shower and make myself comfortable on my bed. I take my new phone out of the bag and see the messages in the group chat which was created by Carol, it was just 5 of us. I had also saved my parents number.

Simon barges into the room "smashed potatoes with chicken will do for dinner?" he asks. I give a nod and he turns around to leaves the room. Simon prepares yummy foods, he learnt a lot from mum. I too know how to cook but when Simon is there, it's him who cooks.

I think back to what carol said, about her job in New York. I think for a while and without thinking twice I grab my laptop and go through the colleges which will accept me. Around thirty minutes later Simon calls me downstairs saying that the dinner is ready.

When we were seated for dinner, I debated whether I should say Simon that I have applied for a few colleges with my scholarship or not but I keep quiet and we eat dinner with a few casual talks. After dinner Simon asks if we could watch a movie but I declined his offer as I was too exhausted. He tucks me to bed and gives a kiss on my forehead and stays in the room till I fall asleep. I fall asleep hoping that I would get accepted in any of the colleges. The last thing I hear is Simon mumbling a goodnight and leaving my room.
