The Guardian's Tale (AOT fanfiction)

-57th Exterior Scouting Mission pt.2-

The female Titan grabbed their wire and crushed them like they were mere bugs. Petra, Eren and I looked back at Captain Levi with clear fear and horror on our faces.

"CAPTAIN ! GIVE YOUR ORDERS !" Petra yelled with a pressing voice.

I clenched my jaw and fire surrounded my hand holding the blade. 

"I'll burn it to ashes." I growled as my eyes started burning red.

"Captain ! CAPTAIN !" Petra pleaded. "Please give us orders ! It's about to catch up to us !"

"Everyone cover your ears." He said coldly as he looked back at us.

We all looked at him, confused as he pulled out a flare gun. As soon as he pulled the trigger, the flames around my fist vanished and I covered my ears. An acoustic shell ? He then lectured the others about how their job was to protect Eren and I, not to let their emotions get the better of them. Eren then argued about how he could use his Titan form but after a long while of arguing, he decided he would trust them and I nodded in agreement. I felt a tingle run down my arm and when I looked down, it was covered in crystals.

"Eren...hold my horse." I said as I handed him Arashi's reins. 

I stood up on his back and turned to face the female Titan. I planted my hooks in her shoulder and as I pulled myself up, I punched her jaw with my crystallized arm, making her stumble backwards. I planted my hooks on the ground and gently sat back onto my horse, grabbing the reins from Eren.

"Nice move shrimp." Captain Levi commented. 

My arm turned back to normal and I noticed that the female Titan had already caught up. As we hitched a little further, she stopped and something that sounded like cannons went off behind us.

"Hitch your horses a little further ahead and switch to ODM gear." Captain Levi ordered. "I have to leave for now. Eld's in charge of the squad. Hide Eren a suitable distance away from that Titan. Look after my horse and you shrimp...come with me." He said before heading off into the trees.

"But that wasn't the o-..." I sighed and turned to the others. "Take care of Arashi for me." I smiled, kissed his neck and headed off after Captain Levi.

"Captain...this wasn't the orders...I was supposed to stay with E-" I was cut off when he gave me a cold stare.

"....At least one of you has to stay alive." He simply said as we continued gliding through the trees. 

We landed next to Commander Erwin and I quietly looked at the sight before me. The female Titan had been rendered unable to move as thousands of hooks had been shot into her skin. Suddenly, I was snapped out of my daze when I felt a hand brush along the scar running from my jaw to my shoulder.

"Say Yuki...I never noticed this. When did that happen ?" Commander Erwin asked.

"I-...Uhm...S-Shiganshina...5 years ago. You never saw it cuz I covered it..." I lifted removed my boot and showed him the scar on my ankle. "This happened 5 years ago too...when I lost Ge-...my brother." I put my boot back on and went back to staring at the female Titan.

A few minutes later, Erwin nodded and Levi, Miche and I tried slicing her hands off to uncover her neck. However, it was no use, she had the same crystal that I had on my hands before. Our blades broke as soon as they made contact with her hands and we came back up to the Commander, shaking our heads. I watched as the Captain stood on top of the Titan's head, probably talking to her. I sighed and replaced my blades. I wonder who our esteemed guest is. I covered my ears as the female Titan opened her mouth and let out a blood curling scream. As soon as she stopped, I removed shaking hands from my ears.

"Yuki..." Commander Erwin placed a hand on my shoulder.

I knew what he was going to say. I had sharper hearing than anyone else so this hurt me more than it hurt them. I nodded and turned back to the female Titan. What was she doing ? Were these her death throes or something ?

"C-Commander...they're coming." I said. "Their footsteps are everywhere...they're coming from all directions." I said as Miche agreed. "The first wave is coming from the East....CAPTAIN GET OFF OF HER NOW !" I yelled as the Titans ignored us and went straight for the female Titan.

Levi jumped off of the female Titan and killed all 3 first Titans. However, other Titans started pouring in and eating the female. 

"All soldiers commence combat ! Defend the female Titan at all costs !" Commander Erwin ordered.

"HAI !" I jumped off of the branch I was on and headed straight into the horde of Titans.

I killed Titan after Titan yet despite that the female was still getting eaten. This was hopeless. 

"ALL SOLDIERS WITHDRAW !" Commander Erwin ordered as we obeyed. "Redeploy the formation ! Return to Calaneth District !"

I was panting as I leaned against a branch to keep myself up. I pushed myself off and waved at Levi to signal that I was going back to the others. When I got there, I sighed, relieved that they were all alright.

"Hey guys !" I smiled. "Let's go."

"Yuki you're panting are you alright ?" Petra asked, worried. "Or is it your heart again ?" She asked, referring to my heart's shitty condition.

"Enough chit-chatting let's go." Oruo said as he got up.

I sighed and we all followed. I laughed as they all argued about who pissed their pants on their first mission and sighed. 

"Yuki. Remember when you were little and you cried when we took your bunny away from you ?" Eld laughed. "I heard you still have that."

"H-HEY !" I yelled as my face reddened. "STOP BEING A JERK YOU OLD FART ! AND YEAH I STILL HAVE HIM SO WHAT ?!" I pouted.

"OLD FART ?! I'M 22 YOU BABY !" He retorted.

"Hey !" Gunther interrupted. "What is this ? A picnic ?! We're outside the walls you know !"

We all stopped when we saw a green flare as we thought it was a message from the Captain. Gunther fired off a green flare as well to show we had gotten the message. 

"Gunther...I hear ODM gear from the East. Someone's coming this way." He was about to speak but I shook my head. "It can't be Captain Levi. It doesn't sound like it."
