I got out of the school after my class, a little exhausted. I stood on the streets for quite a while waiting for a cab to take me home.
Then Seyi's car drove past me. He probably didn't know it was me at first but when he did, he reversed the car. He wind down the window and I figured he was alone. He usually had his driver with him.
"Hi." I waved.
"Where are you going?"
"Home." I smiled. "How was work?"
"Exhausting." He sighed. "Hop in."
"Why? You want to drop me off. There's no need, I..."
"We're going on a date."
"Seyi. We're both exhausted and I'm not attracted to you." I looked away.
"I'm not doing this because I'm trying to make a move. It would just make our day brighter."
"I..."
"Please don't say No."
"Okay, fine."
He stretched and opened the passenger's door for me.
"Thank you."
He nodded and started driving. "You're going to wear that or I should just..."
"I'd rather wear rags so you don't feel attracted to..."
"No matter what you do. I'll still find you attractive." He smiled, his gaze fixed on the road.
"My life is already a mess Seyi. I can't make it more complicated."
"I'm trying to make things easier for you."
"What do you mean?"
"I've been trying to keep tabs on your Damba." He pronounced the name with contempt.
"I...I don't know what to say. Thank you."
"It's fine. He's in the U.S right now and..."
"Tola is in the U.S!"
"I don't get you. Who is Tola?" He stared at me for seconds before gazing back at the road.
"My friend. Our friend. We camped together."
"Oh, I see. You want to use his help?"
"Maybe."
"Call him."
"The last time we spoke, he said he'll get back to..."
Seyi snapped. "He hasn't done that, has he?"
I shook my head.
"Then make a move! Call him."
I took out my phone and did. Tola picked after the first ring.
"I'm sorry I've been unable to..."
"He's in the U.S! Help me Tola. Please!" I cried.
"Okay, okay. I will." Tola sighed. "Adeola, you know I got you right?"
"Y-Yes, thank you."
I hung up and tried very hard not to cry.
Seyi looked at me. "Let it out! You'd find peace, I promise."
"Hmm?"
"Don't hold back tears. Cry if you want to."
"I...I shouldn't be crying in your car." My voice shook.
"Your tears will stain it?"
"N-No. I just feel embarrassed. Today, a student mocked my condition and asked if I could provide the Father of my baby." I stared at Seyi. "I...I'm such a loser."
Seyi stopped the car. "Don't say that. You're not. Femi is just unfortunate to have ditched an amazing woman like you."
"I...I don't find myself amazing." I sniffed.
"Come here." He unfastened his seatbelt and drew me into a hug. "You're just sad. You'd be fine."
I seemed to be comfortable in his arms so I stayed still. "Thank you."

Seyi took me to a beautiful restaurant. It seemed quite expensive that the type of money I had wouldn't make me qualified to sit there not to talk of eating.
Seyi helped me to sit while holding my hand. "Check the menu and tell me what you want."
I sighed after Seyi took his seat. "I...I don't want to look at it. You choose the food."
"Why?" Seyi raised his brows.
"I don't want to see the price. It would be quite intimidating."
Seyi chuckled. "How about I call out the items on the menu?"
"You really want to take the trouble?"
"Anything to make you happy."
I shrugged and so he did. The way he called out every item on the menu made me smile. He made different accents and he was making faces too. I didn't have a bad day after all and it's all thanks to Seyi.
We finally chose an item on the menu and because of Seyi's status, we got our food on time.
I cleared my throat. "So how did you find me?"
Seyi was slicing meat with cutleries. "On the airplane? It was a coinci..."
"No! You were following me that day from school."
"Oh. That day." Seyi took a bite of his food. "It was a coincidence too. I was driving home and I happened to take that route and found you."
"How'd you know it was me?"
"I studied you well on the plane and when I called your name that day, your reaction made me know it was you."
"And the residence?"
"I followed you." Seyi said. He did the talking after that, placing a wide smile on my face.
