((Chloe's POV))
It must've been a day since our train departed. One of the men on the train, Colton Parks, hadn't gotten to eat his ration as everyone else had. He claimed it'd been 3 weeks since he's last eaten. It was surprising because a normal human would've been dead. Well after about 30 minutes of him coughing and puking out nothing but a clear liquid, he collapsed. Dead.
-Flashback-
The whole combine invasion happened about 2 years ago on February 2nd, 2017. After the invasion of a kind called the Xen, we were all evacuated to large cities. They were heavily guarded and walled off, but then the Combine attacked. It happened quite fast actually, only 7 hours. I remember it was my sister, my mother, my father, my brother, and me. The bunker we were being kept in, along with about 50 other survivors, was attacked by some 3 legged spider thing. My father and brother were helping get people out when the spider thing shot out a huge bolt of blue-lightning and crushed the bunker. It was only my sister, mother, and me. We were approached by a big man in a trench coat, he was carrying a huge gun that looked like it was from a science fiction novel! He pointed it at us and ordered us into some carrier car-type thing. There was a lot of shaking and I think we were lifted into the air.
-Flashback over-I shoved my sister a couple times and she blinked a couple times then stretched her arms up.
"We're here already?" She asked me
"Not quite" I responded and then pointed out the window.Outside there was what looked like nuclear waste and sewage, trash, and other things I can't make out. There were also 2 different "animals" here. The last time I saw them was when the Xen outbreak happened. One looked like an alligator with tentacles on its mouth, and the other looked like a pig-thing with a bunch of - what looked like fish eggs on its face. They were rummaging around the garbage and picking out things they thought were suitable and eating them.
"Disgusting" Laurie spitted out.
We turned and looked forward at the train station we were approaching. It looked very old. It was rusting and there was a train that'd been broken in half. When we arrived, we were "greeted" by a group of 5 Civil Protection officers. One stood out in particular, he was a SeC. His mask's eyes were red instead of the normal blue.
After we were identified and checked, we were free to go about in the industrial parts of City 14. It didn't look as bad as it sounded, I was expecting it to be horrible but it may be better than City 45.
We approached the Terminal Hotel, We were assigned to room 4-1. When we climbed a god awful amount of stairs, we were finally at our room.
"Let's hope for the best" Laurie said before taking a deep breath and opening the door.
As soon as we walked in, we took our boots off and Laurie put down our suitcase.
The place was nice, it had carpet. We had a window by our kitchen and laundry room, two beds, a couch, a large wooden drawer, a table with three chairs, and a broken clock.
Laurie laughed then continued to say "Well damn, is this what we get for having 30 loyalty points?"
-Flashback-
((Laurie's POV))
"Pl-please no! stop!" Was yelled by a man from a distance.
I looked down at my sister Chloe and she looked up at me.
"What was that?" Chloe asked
Without replying, I grabbed her arm and pulled her towards the sound, it got louder with each step.
"God he-help meeEEEEeee! please! please don't hurt m-me!"
It was coming from the Loyalist Clothing Shop, a couple of men had locked the owner in the back room, beating him senselessly.
"Wait here!" Chloe said before running out of the shop. Coming back minutes later with a Civil Protection officer.
"Open up! Civil Protection!" The man said
The CP knocked on the door a total of 9 times before kicking it down. The next thing we heard were 7 gunshots and the CP stepped out of the room.
"Citizens, Apply" He said emotionlessly
We told him our names and C.I.D. numbers.
"Alright, 30 loyalty points. both of you. now isolate." He barked at us.
-Flashback over-
((Chloe's POV))
I took off my coat and set it down on the table in the corner of the room.
"Hey I'm going to go out to get some water from the vending machine! What kind do you want? Carbonated or normal water?" Laurie asked me
"Errr I'll take normal" I replied
Laurie nodded her head before exiting the room.
I sat on the couch and looked around, taking a deep breath and then laying back.
I must've fallen asleep because I woke up to Laurie panicking.
"Chloe! You need to come out here!" Laurie yelled
I hesitated and then jumped off of the couch, running out the door.
Here we go again.
