Haylee looks at me in confusion from my tough accent. "Oh sorry , we don't speak Chinese " she says. Andrew comes in : "she's not Chinese , she is from Vietnam". At least someone in this school knows the difference! I hear Haylee talk whisper to Andrew "who cares Andrew! She's Asian and might give us Asian people germs". I hate when people do this. Then I see Andrew stand up and say to Haylee: " don't be a jerk Haylee!".
Haylee tries to open her mouth and say something but her friends come in. She's says "hi" and smiles with a big grin. She comes over to me and says: " you better watch out you Asian, your an Asian and this is America. See , you don't belong. And if you want to say something , nobody will care because you don't even know how to speak English. Stay away from us"And pushed my binder down with all my drawings in it. "Oh and b-t-dubs you can't draw not see with those eyes".
I understand clearly that she does not want me here. I just pick up my stuff and stay silent. Like I'm meant to be doing. Ha ha , making friends ; more like never. Mother always said that your kind will never hurt you.
