He runs his fingers through his hair and lets out a deep breath, forming an 'O' with his lips. "Mhhh I don't know about that."
"Come on Ryan you said you would do anything to make it up to me." Ryan looks at me with total hesitation on his face. "Nobody will buy it, we argue way too much to convince anyone that we are a couple."
"Just listen, here is the plan...Our backstory will be that we have been dating for 7 months and plan on getting married then soon later have two kids, one boy and one girl. Next if we manage to get accepted onto the show we will keep a notebook that we'll write down the times in the show when we might have slipped up. I'm sure the camera crew will buy any gullible enough story that we tell them; they will edit out that footage and we will be home free."
Ryan gets up off of the couch and stares deeply into my tv screen. I couldn't tell what he was going to say from the blank expression on his face.
"Okay fine, I'll do it."
"Oh my gosh Ryan thank you so much you won't regret it, we are going to be rich!" I squeal. I get up in an enthusiastic jump and pounce at Ryan, he jolts back a little but then I feel this strong arms hook around my back. We've never hugged before so this is new. I never imagined what Ryan smelled like but it wasn't this, the scent is so calming like I could just cuddle up into a cotton blanket and fall asleep in a cabin intoxicated by this smell; it's almost like pine with a hint of cinnamon. I'd realized that for the past two minutes I have been squeezing Ryan and sniffing his shoulder.
"Oh uh sorry," I let out a nervous chuckle and release him from my grasp; and suddenly all I can smell is the mold in the floorboards and five dollar daisy air freshener I bought to make my place smell slightly less revolting.
"It's alright you did nothing wrong." Ryan gazed at the ground and twiddled his fingers behind his back. He looked almost nervous, did I make Ryan Runnells nervous?!
Wanting to make this awkward moment less awkward; I say, "So how was the game last night?"
He replies, "Oh it was good."
We just stood there for a few more uncomfortable minutes and eventually he left. Ugh that couldn't have been more embarrassing, what if that weird moment we just had changes his feelings about going on the show. No probably not he wouldn't just back out like that, Would he?
I go to bed with a positive attitude ready to fill out the forms necessary. With all these thoughts flowing through my head the most distinct one is that if we win this I will be out of debt and i'll get to be more carefree with my spending. Back when I was little me and Rachel had a total of three dresses to share for school everyday; they were stained with tomato soup and had tears running down the cuff of the sleeves, so if I get that money I am going to buy a dress and I'm going to tell poverty to screw itself.
"Honey come here!" I walk over to the balcony and see him standing right under me, I smile with delight, "What is it now, see a pelican again?" I laugh at my witty remark and he just looks at me and says "You know I love you right?"
"Yes I know, you tell me at least three times a day."
"Good because I do, but honey you can't stay in bed all day we are in Hawaii."
As he says that a small child runs towards him yelling, "Daddy, Daddy look what I just found it's a starfish!"
"Wow buddy that's awesome." The little boy jumps on him and then looks at me and says "Get up Kylie It's Ryan, God Kylie get up It's already eleven in the morning!"
"Oh God Kylie you are soaking wet did a tsunami hit here overnight."
I slowly open my eyes and see that in fact my grey tank top and pink pajama pants were soaked with sweat, and standing right over me is Ryan wearing a black v-neck and grey shorts. "Sorry I was just having a weird dream"
"Must have been some dream to make you sweat like that." Ryan chuckles at his own humorous remark and pulls off my blanket gesturing for me to get out of bed.
Little does he know who my dream was about. That wasn't my first dream i've ever had about him, but they were usually nightmares, he would either be making me cry or making me furious. Once I dreamed that he trashed my apartment then was making out with my sister in the kitchen, I was simply disgusted after that one.
When I am fully conscious I head to the living room and see Ryan sitting on my sofa drinking a beer from my fridge and trying to figure out how to get to the sports channel.
"Your Tv is the worst, when did you get this thing, in the 1920's."
"I believe you are the uninvited house guest here; if you want to be hateful towards my Tv then you can go watch baseball somewhere else."
"Football,"
"What?"
"I watch football not baseball,"
"Whatever, same thing,"
"Same thing?! Baseball and Football are two completely different sports, baseball you use a small spherical ball which you hit with a wooden bat and run to different bases, while football is when you have a bigger spheroid like shape ball that makes it easier to throw into a field goal amongst other players that try to tackle one another to possess the ball."
"Wow Ryan thanks so much for educating me on a subject I care very so deeply about." I roll my eyes at him to make certain that he knows I'm not serious.
"You're welcome" Ryan says in an equally sarcastic tone.
I gape at my kitchen counter and see how grubby it is. I ignore it simply because I'm already too tired to do any real work today even though it's only eleven-thirty.
I grab some nearly expired milk along with a box of frosted flakes from my cabinet and prepare a perfect bowl of what I call 'Gourmet Milk and Flakes', It's not very fancy but I do add a bit of cinnamon and sugar to make it more lavish, plus it makes me feel like I put effort into my breakfast. Everyone says breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it definitely isn't my favorite.
I scoop the last piece of cereal into my spoon and bring the bowl to my mouth slurping up the now flavored milk, my favorite part. Ryan has just been sitting on the couch patiently for about twenty minutes, he finally got the Tv to work after smacking it a few times.
"I forgot to ask how did you get into my apartment, and why are you here?"
"Your door was unlocked so I walked in; I thought we were signing those papers for that Love in whatever reality show today."
"Oh shoot I totally forgot you're right, let me get dressed and we will go down to their office to get the paperwork."
"Alright, and Kylie you might not wanna wear those shorts."
My eyes trail down to my pants which I hadn't realized were see through and two sizes too small, which made my butt hang out the back. I gasp and run to my bedroom closing the door behind me. I can hear Ryan laughing at me through the walls. I realize how silly I must have looked and snigger at myself while I change.
