No one's POV
It was another day in the lives of Marinette and her friends. Another akuma, another battle, another failed attempt for Gabriel Agreste to get his wife back. He still hasn't chosen to give up and still has hope that his plans would be successful. He still loves his wife...and his son too...even if he only expresses his love once in a blue moon or only does in order for one of his plans to work. After all, he's doing all this for his family,he just wants them to be as they were once again...a happy loving family, he has no intention on stopping his plans....he has to bring her back...no matter what it costs!
Meanwhile Cat Noir's feelings for Ladybug had slowly faded away as time went by, he had accepted them remaining friends since she didn't reciprocate his feelings for her. He had learned to accept it and move on. Though he always wondered who that lucky boy was who had captured her heart. He really is lucky for a girl as amazing as ladybug to take interest in him. He never asked who he was because he respected her privacy.
Over the years Adrien had one other girl in mind....Kagami. He and Kagami had certainly had their moments, like the time that they went to get Andre's ice cream with Marinette and when they went to the ice rink also with Marinette...he knew that Kagami had feelings for him....she had confessed to that when she had been akumatized. His feelings for her aren't as strong as his former feelings for ladybug and Kagami understands that he doesn't feel as strongly as she does. And she had made it clear that she was ready for him when he decided to change his mind. But he wasn't in a rush to start something with her soon.
Marinette had clearly not gotten over Adrien after all this time. But she hasn't gained the courage to tell Adrien how she feels. She knows that Adrien might not reciprocate her feelings for him because he sees her as just a friend...and even though she appreciates what they have, she wishes that they could be more.
Even though Luka had confessed his love to her, and she admitted to also feel something for him, she still finds it hard to forget about Adrien.....her first love. Luka understands the way that Marinette feels and doesn't pressure her to forget about him, though his feelings for her hasn't changed one bit. He still loves her, and he loves her enough to let her go.
Now, they are in their last year of High School, and will soon go off to college to pursue their future careers and become independent. They had finished their final exams and prom was around the corner. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and they all pondered on what to wear and who to bring. They were currently in the assembly hall where Principal Damocles had told them to go to for the final year speech.
Marinette's POV
"Alright everyone, calm down, I understand that you all are clearly excited for your final year prom and spending your last year of high school with your friends and your significant others" Mr Damocles said with a knowing look to all of us.
I blushed and stared at my feet. I don't even have a date to prom. I mean...I could go as a friend group with Alya, Nino and.......Adrien. But I don't want to be a third wheel between Alya and Nino, and it would definitely be awkward going to prom with Adrien...I wouldn't know how to act around him.
I'll probably trip over myself and knock into a fruit punch bowl then my makeup will be smudged and I'll look so hideous then Adrien will be embarrassed to be seen with me ever again and we won't get married and have three kids called Emma, Louis and Hugo and a dog and a cat and a hamster named—
"Marinette..." Alya tapped my shoulder. "Are you okay...you kinda zoned out for a minute"
I sighed and looked down again. "It's just that.....I don't...have a date to prom and I can't ask Adrien, I just can't" I whispered. "Besides....he might already be going with..... Kagami."
"Girl...don't worry...Kagami doesn't even go to this school...they can't go to prom togeth—"
"Oh and you can bring people that aren't from this school to prom as well, I wanna rub it in their faces that our school is the best in all of Paris!" Mr Damocles said with a smug look on his face.
"Ughhhh" I facepalmed.
"Okay..calm down..we might not even be sure that he's bringing Kagami...let me ask Nino. Are we sure that his dad is even gonna let him come to prom?" she whispered.
"Oh my gosh, I didn't even think of that, I mean....his dad can't be that bad.....surely he would let his son come to the last event in high school....right?" I said with hope laced in my voice.
Alya shrugged as she texted Nino on her phone.
"Ms Cesairè and Ms Dupain-Cheng are you even paying attention?!" Mr Damocles said as he looked at us wearily.
"Yes sir!" we both said in unison and turned to look at him.
"Good! Now as I was saying....the color theme is going to be red, black, orange, yellow and green in honor of the superhero defendants of Paris and it is going to be a masquerade themed prom!" He cheered.
Everyone clapped and cheered as they were clearly very excited for it...and once they calmed down...Mr Damocles wished us good luck in our future paths and dispersed us.
I turned to Alya and she had a worrisome look on her face.
"What's wrong Alya?"
She sighed. "Adrien's dad allowed him to go to prom—"
"Well that's great isn't it? I smiled.
She just looked down and sighed again. "But on one condition.....if only he goes to prom with.....
Lila.
