JENNIE POV

Looking at the sky so bright sometimes doesn’t give us happiness but it reminds us that happiness can happen. I am Jennie Kim, a small sister of Jisoo Kim. She is my family, my source of happiness, and also my sister. I used to have a good life when Kai was my boyfriend last time, not until I caught him cheating behind my back and sleeps with the entire woman on his campus. I caught him red-handed in his dorm when I decided to surprise him with a cake I bake in my baking class, a hobby I took on campus. Oh, you don’t want to hear the sound I heard that day and somehow I don’t feel sad catching him sleeping with another woman. I felt relieved somehow to have a reason not to be with him. Don’t get me wrong, I love him since we are in Junior high and when we got into universities, he somehow changed a lot. He is never the sweet Kai I’ve known, to be frank, he is never that sweet but he used to pretend he was last time and I gave him the chance to be with me. He prefers the gym every time rather than cuddling whenever we have time.

I remember how he begged me to return to him and pretend that he did nothing wrong. He said it is men’s hormone and he cannot control it when the woman seduced him too much but what he did not know is I know he’s been sleeping around for the past couple of months but pretended to ignore it knowing he is nice to me. Jisoo always told me that I was in denial and maybe I am that particular moment but not until I caught him that day. At first, he was begging me to stay with him but I refused and luckily we are not from the same university but time goes and he became forceful. The last time he came, I remember him slapping my cheeks for being ungrateful over him who always treats me nice. He even tried to rape me but I managed to escape that time. I was a crying mess that time and Jisoo saw me. Cut things short, nobody dares to disturb the Kim family. My father is a well-known businessman with a humble attitude but if anything or anybody touches her daughters, you will be dead meat. Just say, Kai never visited me anymore after that incident, and all I heard he was in a hospital for a month. What happened to him? I have no idea and will never even care at all. I can’t imagine if I got rape that day. I am lucky I managed to kick his balls and run away.
             
It has been a year and I was a junior on my campus at that time. Today is my second year on the campus and we will be graduating in our third year. I and Jisoo always got our dean list each semester because we took the same Major and Jisoo waited for me so that she can be in the same year as mine and graduated at the same time. How good can it be having your sister to study with you? Some people say that it’s boring to be with your sister but I don’t mind a bit. Our family is close to each other and our parents taught us to always take care of each other. Jisoo is more likely to be ignorant but never mess with her. I am more to an Ice Queen Face reaction but they know I am nice. We always stick together and we only have some close friends like Irene and Seulgi who is a couple since they are 16 years old. Seulgi is 15 when Irene and she are together but they are inseparable. We also have Joy who is the tallest, Wendy who is a mother in our friendship, and Yeri, the trash talker whenever people disturb us.
              
We are currently helping with the campus registration as the new student will be coming in soon. I and Jisoo handled the registration table side by side and the other 5 handle the student’s line. We also have other male students helping to explain the campus activity once they register.

“Hey Jennie, the students are about to come in. Once they register, you can tell them to roam around our booth. I and V will take care of the baking activity.” Jungkook smiles and I nod. He and V have been together for how long I cannot remember. He is the version of Seulrene and they look good together.

You must be thinking how come I have many friends that are in a same-sex relationship. When I was a Junior, I was approached by CL, our lecturer advisor about a small group that supports the LGBT community on our campus and Korea can be strict about this. This group support any LGBT students and I am leading the group. It is not an official group but quietly we supported them if they need any help hence that is where we got to know Jungkook and V. They are so sweet and very nice.

“Sure Jungkook, make sure they took your baking class! You are good with it” I sincerely said because Jungkook and V took Culinary Major together as they have plans to open a bakery shop once they graduated. Jungkook put thumbs up and walked back to his booth.

“Ready Jen? I am going to find someone who loves food and make sure to become my best friend soon!” Jisoo was telling me with excitement and I pretended to pout.

“I am not your best friend now? Oh, I lost my best friend... I’m going to cry…” I pretended to cry because Jisoo knows how soft I am when I am with her.

“Oh no Jennie, don’t cry! You know I will never replace you... Not ever!!” She was worried but then I stuck my tongue out and laugh.

“You think I’m going to cry? No!! I was just kidding Unnie. Do we never know that you might find someone you can love? And a Junior... Wow!” Jisoo was blushing and laughing at the same time.
We get our files ready and put our smiley faces for the new students to come in. I am always excited about this kind of event.

Last time, I was the one who registered together with Jisoo. Seulgi and Irene are our seniors and will be graduating this year but last year, they are the ones who helped to register and get us the same room in our dorm. There are a couple of students who can have their dorm but they need to pay more and we know, they came from a wealthy family. I and Jisoo afford to have our rooms too but we decided to be in one dorm as one dorm can fit 2 people at once. Jisoo said it is better to study and I can’t agree more.

“Oh, I can’t wait to meet new people!” I shout slowly by myself because I am too excited about this. In about 30 minutes I know new students will swarm in and we will be overwhelmed with the registration. Somehow I felt excited like something good is going to happen. Something exciting will happen soon. I smile by myself and I can see Jisoo is smiling too. She must be waiting if someone special will come into her life. She keeps on saying she wants a young partner and I always tease her making her smack my head. Jisoo is so kind and I hope she finds someone who really can make her happy. I can’t wait to see my sister find her soulmate soon.

I can hear the announcement in the hall saying the door will open soon and both I and Jisoo looked at each other grinning excitedly waiting to see who will register for our Major. We do have other tables but they are on different majors.

“Here goes nothing,” Both of us said at the same time and we saw the gate open and lots of students came in…
