Chapter 1

I squint my eyes and bring a hand to block the sun off my face as a bucket of cold salt water and seaweed is promptly dumped on my stomach. Most of it splashing me in the face. Squealing I jump up running after Pierre. His long brown hair bouncing as he sprints back to the water.

"You're so going to regret that!" My feet hit the water as I attempt to chase and dunk Pierre into the ocean.

Bea just laughs from her spot up on the dry part of the beach. She looks radiant in her bright pink snakeskin bikini. It makes her skin look even more honey with more sun kisses than I can count and her hair even more blonde. I wave to her trying to get her to come join us but she just shakes her head and points her finger in a 'you should turn around' way. Suddenly I am pushed and then submerged into freezing cold water. I come up to the surface gasping for air, my head whipping back and forth in search for Pierre. Giving up I walk my way back up to our beach spot which is always by the lifeguard deck. First off we sit by the lifeguard deck in case of an emergency aka me fainting because I had too much Rhode Island sun and not enough water.

It was an extra hot day and again I got distracted reading one of my many books in the sand. Not feeling too good I stood up to tell Bea I was going to go back to the beach house. I felt queasy then everything went black. Next thing I knew the most gorgeous guy in all of Rhode Island was knelt beside me asking if I was okay. I could only nod as he helped me sit up and take a sip of water. Finally coming to I smiled and said thanks in a hoarse voice. A smirk tugged at his lips as he looked past me and said 'she needs to get inside and drink lots of water,'

And that is reason two of setting up camp next to the lifeguard deck. Dreamy, faint saving lifeguards.

I've only been living on Rhode Island for a week and it has proven to be the best decision. Bea is my mom's highschool best friend.

Chapter 3

"Hurry up," I protested. Practically half dragging Mo towards the group on the beach. We had been walking along the boardwalk looking at the big mansions right at the water when I spotted the group of teens down below. Music was blasting from a nearby speaker as people danced and some were even jumping in the ocean. Skinny dipping? Maybe, I couldn't tell in the dark. I just couldn't resist. It's been almost four weeks since I've moved to Rhode Island and I haven't made any friends. Well unless you count Mo but she's Bea's niece so she's practically a built in friend and not to mention two years younger. That's besides the point. The whole reason I'm here is to have fun and spread my wings. I can't do that alone now can I?

Finally Mo isn't resisting but she still hasn't wiped the scowl on her face. Rolling my eyes I set my shoulders, lift my chin and walk straight into the buzzing group. The first person I meet is Juniper. Blonde silky locks contrast with one matted dread, bright green eyes stare back at me. One look at Juniper and you know she's one of those wave surfing hippies you want as a close friend.

She begins to point out the other people around her who I assume are in her friend group and introduces me to some. Lila and Vivienne are twins and the two closest friends of Junipers. They're extremely rich and live in one of the big mansions I was googling at earlier. We meet Matt at the edge of the party. He's flailing his arms enthusiastically talking about some new video game release. He's cute and sweet and dorky. I can tell I'm going to like him. Then she makes a sort of head jerk at two boys more towards the center of the group. One's smile seems to light up the room and he has the eyes of almost every girl here. Derek is his name, Juniper informs me. The next one, is one of those guys who you can tell doesn't talk much, his eyes are set and focused but without talking confidence rests on his shoulders. His eyes seem to glisten and I'm not sure why. I can't help but stare. Our eyes meet and he smiles. I can't help but smile back. Juniper pulls me back from the trance, "That's Derek's best friend Kallum but everybody just calls him Kal" she whispers.
