Act 1
I woke up at my desk, finally. It felt like hours since I had gotten any sleep ever since this goddamn outbreak started. I don't wish this pain on anyone, not even my enemies.
I rise up from the chair I was sitting in and close the book I was reading moments before I fell asleep. The last words I read of the book being: "“Then make one,” says Gale. “Even a weak bow is better
than no bow at all.”
I have tried copying my father’s bows with poor results. It’s
not that easy. Even he had to scrap his own work sometimes.
“I don’t even know if there’ll be wood,” I say. Another year,
they tossed everybody into a landscape of nothing but bould-
ers and sand and scruffy bushes. I particularly hated that year."I walked outside of the place I stayed at, immediately getting hit by the snow storm. The snow rushed at break neck speed and that's when I pulled my hood up over my head.
