Nanabe Toru's Point of View

The class had ended for the day and as soon as the teacher left the classroom Hirata stood up from his seat. It attracted the attention of the students inside. He was the first one to stand up after all.

"Guys, can you please listen to me for a moment?" He made his way to the front of the class, to the direction of the podium.

Once he was settled there, the class remained silent. They were waiting for what Hirata was going to say. Most of the students who were told about the study group already have a vague idea of what Hirata's words are going to be. But for those who were not briefed, they don't have any idea.

"As you may recall, the points of our class dropped down from a thousand to zero. Unlike the other classes, Class D didn't manage to save even just a single one. I'm not saying that it was anybody's fault, I'm not blaming anyone here. What I mean is it was our class's fault as a whole. That's why I'm suggesting that we start to take the class and the lectures seriously."

The class didn't respond, they were just listening to what Hirata is saying. The students in the classroom all have different expressions. Some looked like they don't care while some looked like they do. They all had different expressions that are too plenty to name.

While me, I just had my usual expression. I had my usual expression while scanning the whole room. That was when I saw it. I saw Ayanokouji's apathetic face. He was looking at Hirata but at the same time, he was not. It was as if he wasn't looking at a person.

"Why would we? It's not like our points will increase if we behaved! Might as well be free and just do what we were doing in the first month!" A student shouted.

His claim is this: even if we, Class D students, behaved ourselves and took studying seriously, it doesn't guarantee us that we will gain a point by doing so. So he said that we might as well just live our school life without following any rules.

This claim may sound good for an idiot. But if you tell this to a thinking person and a normal one at best, this claim is not good at all.

Let's say that you did disregard the warning that Chabashira-sensei made, even if you managed to pass the upcoming test and prevented yourself from being expelled. It doesn't guarantee that your school life will be as fun as you imagined it will be.

After that one student's complaint, more followed. The other students raised their hands one after another. All of them have a different version or a different way of complaining but all of it still means one thing. And the meaning is that the students still don't want to study properly.

Hirata can't begin speaking because his voice is being overwhelmed by the complaints of our classmates. Luckily, Kushida, the most trusted girl in class, stepped in. Come to think of it, we didn't really talk with each other these past few days.

"Everyone! I think it would be better if we would let Hirata-kun speak."

The complaining students stopped, some of them had their hands still raised in the air. All of the students that were shouting their complaints before are boys. That's why they all became quiet when they heard Kushida's voice.

Granted, that most of the boys are harboring jealousy towards Hirata because of the rumor with Karuizawa, they still look up to Kushida. So just one word from Kushida is enough for them to stop what they were doing.
