Amemaru middle school, October 3rd 2011.

As the older, taller, blonde boy walked down the hallways to the gymnasium, the younger, shorter green haired boy watched whilst following in the same direction.

As the blonde turned around to question the younger boy whom was following him, he stopped in his tracks and noticed an absurd amount of stars covering both of his forearms. He then glanced into the green haired boys eyes.

"Why are you following me?" The blonde boy asked. "I- um.. uh. S-Sorry!" The green haired boy replied in an awkward and stuttering tone.

"Why do you have stars covering your arms? Is that like a cosplay or something?" The blonde questioned, ignoring the green haired boys actions from before.  "I could ask you the same thing.." The shorter boy responded while looking at the taller boys forearms.

The older boy took a glance at his own arms and immediately felt alarmed. Why was he covered in stars? What was going on?

"I'm Tadashi Yamaguchi, by the way." The younger boy introduced himself. "Kei Tsukishima." The older boy held out a hand.

As Yamaguchi shook Tsukishima's hand he spoke. "Maybe we should hang out to try and figure out what they mean... I- I mean research on what these stars entail!" Yamaguchi stated.

Tsukishima reluctantly agreed. Around a month later... Tsukishima and Yamaguchi had become close friends and Yamaguchi's birthday was just around the corner.

Tsukishima had decided to buy Yamaguchi a figurine that he had been rambling on about all week long. When the day came along, Tsukishima arrived at Yamaguchi's house for his birthday party but yet he was the only one who had shown up.

As Yamaguchi's mood dimmed he looked down at his feet. Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was Tsukishima, he handed Yamaguchi his gift and told him to open it. As the younger boy opened his gift his eyes started tearing up. He reached out and hugged Tsukishima, thanking him.

Tsukishima rolled his eyes and chuckled then a thought came into his head.
"Yamaguchi, Can I give you a nickname?" Tsukishima asked. "Only if I can give you one!" Yamaguchi exclaimed.

"Fine..." Tsukishima agreed to his plan. "Okay, your new nickname is.. uh.. hmm.. Oh! your nickname is now Tsukki!"

"Alright.. then your nickname is Yams." Tsukishima said with a smile. Yamaguchi's face went bright red and his stars were glowing even brighter.

"You're glowing Yams!" Tsukishima laughed. Yamaguchi giggled along with Tsukishima as the day came to its end and the dark night skies fell outside the window.

Tsukishima looked outside.
"It's getting late, I should start heading home." "Or you could stay over, my parents wouldn't mind. It's up to you and whatever your parents say." Yamaguchi stated.

"Hmm, I suppose so."
Tsukishima responded. "I'll text my mom and tell her I'm staying at a friends house." Tsukishima said whilst grabbing his phone out of his pocket.

"Alright! I'll go and tell my parents!" Yamaguchi excitedly ran into the backyard and told his parents that Tsukishima would be staying over. As Yamaguchi hastily ran back to Tsukishima he excitedly cheered.

"Tsukki! Let's go upstairs!" Yamaguchi shouted while walking in the direction of the stairs. Tsukishima followed closely behind.

Eventually they reached Yamaguchi's bedroom.
It was pretty much a basic room that any teenage boy would have. It had a bed with dark blue blankets and posters that were placed on the walls at random.

"Get comfortable, I'll go get some snacks!" Yamaguchi said as he left his room and walked to the kitchen. Tsukishima sat down and admired his surroundings, he noticed an astrology tapestry on Yamaguchi's wall and a telescope facing his bedroom window.

Tsukishima suspected that he was into astrology but he couldn't help to think there was another reason behind it. Yamaguchi re-entered the room with a tray of snacks that included: Pocky, Ramune and Hello Panda.

Yamaguchi set the tray down on the desk in his room and sat down next to Tsukishima. "I've been researching on what these stars on our arms mean.. if that's what you're wondering."

Yamaguchi pointed out, noticing that Tsukishima was observing the astrology tapestry and telescope. "Oh, have you figured anything out yet?" Tsukishima responded.

Yamaguchi grabbed his laptop from his bedside table and turned it on, Opening it to a PDF that gives a vague explanation as to what the stars entail. "Soulmates...?" Tsukishima asked as he read a paragraph from the PDF.

"That's what got me confused, I don't know why only we can see these stars if they're meant for soulmates.. and why would we be soulmates out of all people?" Yamaguchi stated in a confused tone.

Tsukishima read through the rest of the PDF, trying to make sense of it. "You missed a key point." Tsukishima pointed out.

Yamaguchi looked at the screen observing what Tsukishima was talking about. "Oh my god. How didn't I see that?" Yamaguchi asked himself.

The PDF read: When your soulmate makes you happy, your face will appear bright red and your stars will begin to glow brighter. If you and your soulmate part ways and marry someone else, your stars will be dim and practically invisible...

"So I guess this is trying to tell us that we're soulmates..." Yamaguchi gulped.

"Maybe it's a hoax."
Tsukishima stated, trying to ignore the facts. "Haha, maybe." Yamaguchi laughed.

"Or, maybe it's right. Maybe this is the way things are meant to be.."
Tsukishima said. "Does that mean that we should test things out to see if it works out?" Yamaguchi suggested.

"I suppose."
Tsukishima answered.

Yamaguchi looked out his window.

"The stars look so pretty tonight.."
Yamaguchi mumbled under his breath.

"They really do."
Tsukishima said, picking up on what Yamaguchi had mumbled.

"You heard that?!"
Yamaguchi asked in a startled tone.

"Well yeah, you're right next to me."
Tsukishima pointed out the obvious.

"Oh. I forgot about that, haha."
Yamaguchi giggled while fiddling his fingers.

Tsukishima chuckled as he heard Yamaguchi giggling.

"It's late, we should get some sleep."
Yamaguchi said while turning off his laptop.

"Alright."
Tsukishima agreed and started taking off his glasses.

As they both lied down on Yamaguchi's bed they looked up at the ceiling.

There were stars.
