Quinn brushed their short, brown hair out of their eyes as they rode their bike over the bridge that they crossed nearly every day, with Onyx in short pursuit. They were on their way home from a day full of errands and couldn't wait to snuggle up with Onyx in their bed. They biked over the gravel that formed their street and took a detour through the many trees between the street and their cottage. They reached up and grabbed an apple, while pedaling, and took a bite. When they finally reached their cottage, they hid their bike behind a bush and unlocked their front door. They put away the things that needed to be refrigerated first, then the paints. They planned on using their new paint to repaint their rusty, old bike in the non-binary flag colors. Once they were done putting away the things they bought, they followed their familiar, Onyx, to their room and flopped down onto their bed face down.

"C'mere, Onyx," Quinn said, Onyx jumped up onto the bed next to Quinn. Onyx noticed something outside and nudged Quinn.

"Quinn, there's a cat outside," Onyx questioned.

"It's probably a stray," Quinn replied, with a dismissive tone.

"But look at it," Onyx insisted, trying to get Quinn to get up. Quinn grunted and reluctantly got up to look at it.

"Huh, it looks friendly," Quinn mumbled, "let's go outside and try and pet it, Onyx." They were a bit more energetic now that they saw the cat. Onyx followed Quinn outside and towards the cat. As Quinn and Onyx got closer to the cat, it started to walk away. "Huh, I guess it doesn't want us to pet it," Quinn guessed, with a hint of disappointment in their voice. When the two started to walk back to the cottage, the cat followed them, but then circled back when the two turned around. "Wait, Onyx, I think it wants us to follow it," Quinn perceived.
