chapter four - sweet caroline
Finn's POVQuinn and I walk through the front doors of McKinley High together, heading down the hallway to our lockers. Quinn quickly gasps and grabs my arm.
"No way. Look at Puck and the hobbit," she widens her eyes. I follow her gaze and furrow my eyebrows seeing Puck leaned up against Rachel's locker, holding her hand and smiling at her. I was unfortunately just distracted enough to miss Karofsky headed right towards me with a grape slushee in hand until the cold substance hit my face. I pause in shock before immediately turning around and pinning him up against the lockers.
"What the hell, Karovsky?!" I yell at him as he quickly shoves me back.
"Oh, I've wanted to do that ever since fifth grade when you made fun of me for getting pubes," he frowns, shoving me again. "Now that you've joined Lullaby Lees, and insperminated the queen of the Chastity Ball, and dropped below us hockey dudes on the food chain, it's open season," he grins.
"Screw you, Karofsky!" Quinn yells from beside me. "You and your Neanderthal Puckheads are nothing!"
"You're gonna pay for this, dude," I say through gritted teeth, shoving him against the lockers again.
"No, I'm not," he shoves me back. "You two don't have the juice anymore. Welcome to the New World Order," he smiles at Quinn and I before walking off. Quinn frowns before quickly pulling me into the choir room, where the rest of the Glee Club sat, waiting for Mr. Schuester.
"This is a disaster," she sighs, sitting me down at the drums before beginning to clean the slushee off of my face. "Our reputation as McKinley High's 'it' couple is in serious jeopardy if we don't find some way to be cool again, Finn," she groans.
"The slushee war has commenced," Kurt says from his seat.
"And if Finn and Quinn are getting nailed, none of us are safe," Mercedes sighs. Erin runs into the room with an extra towel and hands it to Quinn. She looks up slowly at Puck who was sitting beside Rachel, holding her hand. I see a small frown twitch across her lips before she returns her attention to me.
"I got your football clothes for you to change into," she sighs, setting my black duffle bag on the ground beside me and heading over to sit by Mercedes just as Mr. Schue walks into the room.
"Okay, guys, I know you guys really enjoyed doing mash-ups last week, and I want to keep you guys fired up," he smiles. "Plus, there's an important lesson to be learned with mash-ups. Sometimes things are so different that they don't feel like they go together, but the big difference between them is what makes them great like... chocolate and bacon."
"Like me and Rachel," Puck grins, wrapping his arm around her shoulder, as Rachel smiles.
"Or Glee Club and football," I sigh, as Quinn continues to wipe slushee from my face.
"Exactly," Mr. Schue smiles. "Which you've proven is a great combination," he says, oblivious to the irony of the situation. He grins and begins passing out the sheet music to "Bust A Move" by Young MC. "Finn, take us through it."
"Sorry, Mr. Schuester. I got corn syrup in my eye," I sigh.
"Okay, Puck, how about it?" Mr. Schue asks, turning to him.
"I don't really groove on Young MC," Puck responds, looking through the sheet music.
"I am shocked at the lack of leading-man ambition in this room right now," Rachel scoffs.
"I actually have a different song I've been working on," Puck grins at Rachel, grabbing his guitar and coming to the front of the room. "It's my personal tribute to a musical Jewish icon."
