aera leaned against the kitchen counter, fingers tapping absentmindedly over the marble as she stared at the chocolate chip cookies she had just put in the oven.
there she was again— baking because murder was wrong.

she replayed the conversation with sunghoon back at the restaurant in her mind over and over again like a broken record. the more she thought about it, the more it irritated her. but maybe what irritated her more is that he was under her roof at the moment, a room away, giggling with jake about god knows what, probably something naturally idiotic, because after all the male sense of humor revolved around idiocy.

sunghoon was stupid. he had to be. to aera, it was the only plausible explanation. his confidence was admirable that is for certain, but there is a very thin line between confidence and delusion, and if you asked her, for sunghoon that line was very blurry— if it existed at all.

it didn't take long before the delightful smell of cookies fills the room with a rich sweetness, a blend of butter melting into golden dough and the caramelized edges crisping just right. aera watches as the chocolate melts under the heat of the oven, dark and rich, for a moment she forgot every single problem she had, breathing in the sugary, vanilla-infused aroma.

that was until sunghoon showed up in the kitchen unwelcomed, disrupting her peace and ruining the sense of magic the scent of the biscuits cooking up had created. aera straightened up, frowning as her gaze fell upon him. she clenched her jaw and crossed her arms, teeth sinking in her tongue to hold herself back from just telling him to go away immediately.
there were many things that angered aera— and a second presence in the kitchen was one of those.

"woah, why are you looking at me like you're going to bite my head off?" sunghoon chuckled grabbing a chair and turning it towards himself, sitting down facing the backrest, his arms draped lazily around it as his gaze remained on a not-so-happy looking aera (not that she ever looked happy)

"maybe I will" aera muttered under her breath, focusing on the cookies in the oven, refusing to meet his gaze.
"come on, aera" he teased, his voice light. "we both know I'd win if you tried."
