Her eyes fluttered open, rather against her will.
She was exhausted, having not gotten a single night of proper sleep for weeks, and now she knew she would never get one again.
She stood up and grabbed her bags, waiting for the people at the front of the bus to get off. Slowly, she made her way towards the exit and she got off the bus.
A duffle bag filled with clothes, and her backpack with a fake ID, some books, and a photo of her and the Thompsons were all that she had to her name now.
She wasn't sure why she took the picture of her and Thompsons, considering that they probably wanted nothing to do with her and would be glad to find that she had run off in the middle of the night.
Nick shivered from the cold January air and looked around the city. Seattle. It was gorgeous. She had come here once with her dad when she had been around 4 or 5. It had been so long ago she had forgotten most of it, but she remembered feeling a strong love to the city. Now she'd be calling it home.
She shivered again.
She pulled her phone out of her back pocket and typed a search in her phone, trying to ignore the 5 missed call signs from the Thompsons. She knew that they had to help the cops find her so she could be taken to another foster home. But the last thing she wanted to do was go to another foster home. She had enough of people using her. She had enough of people pretending to love her.
She was on her own now.
She looked up homeless shelters nearby, finding some churches that did overnight setups of cots and served breakfast to everyone that checked in. She pulled up some directions and began to walk quickly, not wanting to attract any attention.
She was on her own...
