Loud gasps and murmurs could be heard around the conference room. Tae could notice the displeasure and disappointment in everyone's voice at the sudden turn of events. But his eyes remained fixed on his father's face, who just blinked in surprise. Nawat could see the resolve and confidence in his son's eyes, which he had not seen for the past few years. He smiled slowly, ignoring the growing protests from everyone in the room. Meanwhile, Kimmon released a long, heavy breath that he didn't know he had been holding until then.
"What is happening here?", Suchart snapped, raising his voice and gaining the attention from everyone in the room, "This is ridiculous. You had your time and chance to express your opinions on this contract in our review meetings. But you agreed to every clause and now what? You don't want to sign this contract?", Suchart scoffed in irritation, "This again shows us how incompetent and incredibly unprofessional you are, Mr.Tae Darvid Kreepolrerk"
"Unprofessional?", Tae persisted, as he sank into his chair comfortably, "Incompetent? At least I don't resort to dishonest ways to prove my competency at work, Mr.Suchart Khemmonta. My work and my accomplishments are the proofs of my ability and proficiency in my field, and I do not need any acknowledgment of who I am and what I am capable of, at least not from you, Mr.Suchart. Being a major shareholder of my firm, I would like to use my veto power to dissolve our business partnership with Khemmonta Industries"
"Veto power?", Suchart snickered sarcastically, "Well well, Tae, I admire your guts. I mean, look at you, acting all smug and confident when you know that you will loose if the board members decided to choose sides. Let's not complicate things, Tae. Sign those papers and pass them", he finished with a hiss.
"My decision is final regarding this contract, Mr.Suchart. I am not signing this contract and I also propose to terminate the active contract between Kreepolrerk and Khemmonta Industries", Tae replied stubbornly, "Get to work, Tony", he instructed his assistant, who nodded fast and ran towards the dining area.
"And who do you think you are to terminate this contract?", Suchart barked in anger, "This contract has not expired yet, and any decision on terminating this contract should have been intimated to the board first and discussed in detail on the termination clauses mentioned in the contract when it was signed. Do you even know the penalty that you might have to pay in case of voluntary or at-will termination of the contract before its end date? I am pretty sure that you are not even aware of what kind of stupidity you are doing now"
"Manners, Suchart", Nawat growled in irritation.
"Oh my bad, I am sorry, gentlemen", Suchart waved his hands in front of his face with a fake sincerity, "But I can't just sit back and watch yet another foolish act by the young heir of Kreepolrerk Industries. No, I am not ready for that again. We all know how imprudent and reckless Mr.Darvid can be, and I am sure that every single person available in this room is aware of Mr.Darvid's past and his rebellious nature. So, I hereby request the board to take appropriate measures to secure our rights and privileges in this contract, because I strongly believe that Mr.Darvid is doing this to get back at me with personal motives"
"I disagree, Mr.Khemmonta", Tae retorted in a firm tone and stood up from his seat, "I apologize for the inconvenience caused, gentlemen, but this deal is off the table now. I am proposing to terminate the contract with Khemmonta Industries on the grounds of unsatisfactory performance by Khemmonta officials, violation of conditions and breach of contract, which includes money laundering and embezzlement by Mr.Suchart during the construction of twelve resorts in Koh Samui Island during 2016-18 and four guest houses in Chiang Mai during 2014.
