BLIP

God switched off the TV and threw the remote on the couch, “Baby, how long will you watch the same news over and over again”, he complained.

“I am sorry”, Bas mumbled pouting.

“Hey, are you okay?”, God sat near Bas and gathered him in his arms.

Bas nodded slowly and rested his head on God's shoulder. The year long legal battle between Kreepolrerk and Khemmonta had ended with Suchart being sentenced to life long imprisonment. But his past haunted Bas like a never ending maze.

Bas was a loner at school. He was a socially awkward single-minded computer geek. In other words, he was a genius, whom the other kids preferred to mock as a nerd and refused to befriend. His pale skin and timid nature pushed him to join the weaker category of kids who were easy preys to the bullies at school. He was from an upper middle class family, who desired to have a son whom they can flaunt about, rather than take pride in their son’s intellectual development which was far advanced for his age.

Bas wanted to lead a normal life like other teenage boys of his age. He wanted to have friends and go on dates. He wanted to be loved and appreciated by his family and classmates. And so when he was approached by the manager of a casting agency on his way back home, Bas readily accepted the offer without thinking much. It was a romcom drama in which Bas was selected to play the role of the main lead’s younger brother. It was a minor role with minimal lines. But Bas attended the training workshop with other cast members diligently. He worked hard. He practiced his lines day and night, trying to force himself to come out of his own shell.

And everything changed overnight when the drama was aired. To his own surprise, he was widely recognized for his cuteness and screen presence. His parents were very proud of him and almost everyone at school wanted to be friends with him. He was approached for ad film contracts and many other drama roles. Bas basked in joy. He was flying high in popularity and decided not to go back to his old boring geeky life. But life had other plans for him. Just like how he rose to fame overnight, he fell hard real quick too.
