Gravity Falls, Oregon.A town not located on any maps. A town filled with mysterious regarding the odd, and the supernatural. The towns residents are either oblivious and care-free, crazy, or just as strange... or occasional just stupid. Don't ask.
When night falls upon the town, people reside indoors like anyone else. Unless they're running the night shift, running a last minute errand, a romantic date under the moonlight, or just wandering around like the town hermit.
But when night falls upon the town's forest... the creatures that rule the night come out.
Mainly the nocturnal predators native to the land. Be it natural or supernatural.
Tonight, one of the apex predators of the Falls is out looking for a nightly meal. A large grizzly bear is seen lumbering through the woods, it's nose trying to pick up the scent of anything that would be appetizing to opportunistic omnivore.
Little did it know, that it was being watched...
The bear sniffed the ground, trying to pick up anything that deemed desirable. It soon picked up something, and began to sniff the air. Only it wasn't the scent of possible food it picked up... it was the scent of another predator.
It turned to its right, and growled. It then stood up on its back legs, and roared in intimidation. The bear couldn't see the other predator within the thick brush, but it could still smell it. The predator's scent was one it didn't recognize. It was new, and unnatural.
The bear felt threatened by its presence.
The bear roared once more, and it began to hear the brush rustle with movement.
The mysterious new predator slowly revealed itself to the bear. The beast was definitely bigger than the bear itself. It growled at the bear, and the bear lost any sense of aggression at the sight of the creature before it.
In a sudden flash, the predator charged with such speed that the bear didn't have a chance to react. It's only reaction being a look of fear across its face before the beast slashed at its victim with three long claws.
One slash was all it took to butcher the grizzly.
The only sound that resonated throughout the night... was a high pitched cackling howl that sounded like a bird that flew straight out of Hell.
The bear was only the first of many victims to slay. Soon, everyone will know that the night belongs to one apex predator, and one apex predator only...
... the Night Feeder.
...
Ok. First story that I've ever written for this site. So far so good.
I don't own the picture for the cover. I found it on iFunny.
Anyways, for those that don't know, also a major spoiler warning for anyone that has not watched the work of art that is Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal, the Night Feeder is a mysterious yet highly violent unidentifiable dinosaur in the series that can kill anything with one swipe of its claws. Seriously, that thing sliced through redwood-like trees, and even sliced a dinosaur clean in half! Not to mention, this thing has a fear of fire, is covered in some kind of black oil-like substance that makes the creature highly flammable, hence the fear of fire, and it has been theorized that it could be a were-creature or something. The theory is that it could be a small dinosaur that's been mutated by this black ooze that's been seen in the series once (that's all I'm gonna say just to avoid spoilers) that turns those that consume it into larger more aggressive and violent versions of themselves. For those that HAVE seen the series know what I'm talking about. For those that haven't, I highly recommend it. But it's not for kids, just so you know.
Now, for the Night Feeder in my story, there's going to be some changes. For my story, it won't have the ooze coating its skin, nor will it be highly flammable, but it will still have a fear of fire so it doesn't seem too powerful.
Anyways, I'll see you guys in chapter one. Stay tuned!
