ALL FOR US
"HOME"A NEWFOUND life resided within Lonnie. For once in a long time, she didn't need to fake a smile or the laugh that rolled off her tongue as she walked beside Peter, Ned, and MJ as they walked through the airport. Her mother's death didn't weigh in her chest nor did the doubts live inside her mind. She was free or her own prison. And for once in a long time, Lonnie Romanoff felt like partially like herself again. She was an empty shell no longer and slowly but surely she'd grow back into her skin.
"I love your hair like that." Lonnie commented as her eyes devoured MJ's newish look. She walked with more confidence than she had before and her hair which used to stay back in a ponytail all day now flowed freely to her chest with one side tucked behind her ear.
"Thank you." MJ said with a smile. "I like it too."
Peter's eyes couldn't seemed to tear away from Lonnie. Happiness radiated off her in waves Peter had never felt before. Her smile hugged the corner of her twinkling eyes as she laughed at something Ned had said. A smile of his own had begun to tug at his lips from just the sight of her own. Something about it made his chest swell.
"You know I've got a friend from Tennesee close enough to my age." Lonnie said as she looked over to Ned and Betty. "What do you say guys? Double date?"
"Oh..." The word dragged from the two's lips as they looked to one another. "We broke up."
A look of shock formed on Lonnie's face as she stared at them, both Peter and MJ mimicking her expression. "Wait, why?"
Ned shrugged. "Men and women grow apart, but the journey they share together will always be apart of them."
Lonnie looked to Peter with a skeptical look as Betty placed her hand on Ned's cheek. "That sentence screams I looked this up to me." She whispered, causing Peter to place his hand over his mouth to stifle a laugh.
"You are so wise." Betty said as she stared dreamily into Ned's eyes.
"Thank you." Ned said and with that Betty walked away towards her family.
"See you guys around." Ned happily said before walking off.
"They were kind of an odd pair." MJ said as she watched the two walk away.
"Indeed they were." Lonnie agreed with a nod of her head.
"Well, I see my parents. I'll see you guys around." MJ waved before walking away.
Lonnie turned to Peter after waving MJ goodbye. "So, how did it go?"
A look of confusion formed on Peter's face as he stared at her. "How did what go?"
"You know, asking her out and what not."
"Oh." Peter nodded his hand absentmindedly moving to rub the back of his neck. "Yeah, I didn't ask her."
